Just saw this. Nice work by 1883!

Damn.

Michigan’s collective just offered Bryce Underwood $10.5M to outbid LSU’s $1.5M offer.

Here, we’re talking a match “up to” $50k for the ENTIRE collective…  Yikes.

Comparing us to Michigan makes a lot of sense.

For sure; I agree.

Considering, after all, Michigan was the team to knock UND out of the college hockey playoffs last season.

Michigan isn’t giving anywhere near this type of money to their hockey players

No crap. Michigan can give $10,500,000.00 to ONE athlete while UND is looking to muster a $50,000.00 match for its ENTIRE collective.

We can’t beat Michigan when Michigan wasn’t paying their hockey players, at least according to you.  (Hell, UND barely beat RMU—a team that didn’t exist in 2022 and 2023—tonight at home).

The writing is on the wall.

No, but eventually the pay to get quality players will eventually skew the business in favor of the deep pockets, at least until college sports has a payroll cap.  Vomit emoji, hope I'm dead by then.

Bump.

Great time to donate. You can do an annual contribution and pay for 11 months and get the 12th month free. All the funds are then eligible for the match, which expires on Sunday. Can also choose where to put it, between the general fund or earmark it for up to 2 sports.

Agreed - always great when your donation is doubled!

At the booster lunch a few weeks ago he said their goal is that every student athlete would receive some money.

Let’s go! Good goal to have. Obviously some more than others, but great that they’re trying to elevate all sports!

You’re right, the writing is on the wall, and for many it means turning to professional sports more.  You’ll just be watching better versions of professionals.

This is what they should do to get people to donate to the NIL collective. For these destination games, you should get priority to how much you give to the NIL collective for hockey and not by Champions Club donations.

It would an interesting exercise seeing how upset you could make you biggest and most tenured donors to the actual University, that is for sure.

Completely get where you are going with the idea, but until the Champions Club gets enough money to fully support scholarships across the board and get them endowed, probably a non-starter.
