I can’t name one guy we can’t afford to lose on defense. We used to at least have a couple to a few studs on d every year but not anymore.

I don’t see Bubba moving to the Alumni office. I don’t see their fundraisers making $250,000 per year and they aren’t going to pay an untested fundraiser more than the people who have been doing a great job fundraising for a number of years. Those people need to be high energy, dynamic personalities that know when and how to “close the deal”.  I don’t see that as one of his strengths. Having said that there are some where his personality might be perfect. 
Lastly, if you have an employee you need to let go, it’s not wise to keep them around. Just my opinion.

But the thought of 50 portal transfers doesn't excite me either.   If they bailed on their last team, well....................

Other than Montana, the wins this year made the Hawks look way better than they are. I cannot say I saw one change or adjustment that made any coaches look good. A few passes to Bo and some of the big runs were the highlights of the year. The defense should have been shelved a long time ago.  This 4 game skid is going to be hard to overcome the next year or two without big changes.

A 6’4” QB with a cannon arm and two Ben McNaboes were the real off season need. Maybe one other guy too but he’s under contract.

Saw this on FB today in a comment on the North Dakota football threads. According to this there were football alumni that highly recommended  Chaves not extend Bubba and made their feelings pretty clear.

Great story...no doubt...but he's had one game all year where I really felt like he was in command (YSU), and his coach trusted him so much that he took him OFF the field for the biggest play of the game.

But to your point...there's 348 other deficiencies with this team...Simon doesn't rank in the top 40 of them.

So if I'm reading this correctly this team by your estimation has 350 deficiencies and this team's QB play doesn't crack the top 40 in its deficiencies??

When UND loses on the road...again...to drop 5 straight to end the season to finish 5-7 and misses the playoffs in a watered down FCS where does the UND FB hype/spin machine...and a few too many here on this site...go to get any build up interest/excitement prior to the first kickoff of the 2025 season?

Well the team GPA is solid, so there's that.......

One of the most frustrating things this year is the schedule set up well to have a good season.  7 of the 12 games at home.  Host 2 of the 3 other Dakota teams at home.  Front load the schedule with Home games to build confidence and play 2 of the toughest home games at the end of the year when we should have been on a roll.  We should have been 8-3 going into this weekend with a chance to get a first round bye with a win.

Get with the times. It’s not always like that. Sometimes things just don’t work out at the first stop and that’s not necessarily an indictment on the player or program.

Agree 100%.  All it takes is a few anonymous cyber All Americans to ruin any board.  Gopher Hole has bonin, Bisonville has El Chapo and Kevin, Sioux sports.....well thats obvious.  (I'm expecting the standard response of "if you don't like it leave" or "your okay with our culture and being average)

I googled it. English teacher in GF it appears. I’ll do my best to correct everyone’s grammar the next 7 days in his honor. After that, it’s on to cheering for any other team still playing as the Hawks season is done.
