Many of the players they signed didn't get upgrade to 2 or 3 star players until after they committed. Plenty of politics that goes on behind the scenes with how players get to those spots. Overall point still remains that UND needs to continue striving to get better players and start winning more battles for players with multiple offers. That isn't debatable at all. I realize stars aren't the end all of recruiting. Not trying to disagree with you but, I follow recruiting somewhat closely for SD and ND schools, and their 3 star signees were that way before they signed. They pretty much all have G5 or P4 offers, some just have a shitload of FCS offers. 1 Quote

I'm in complete agreement with you, as someone who likes to follow recruiting as well. Feels like the SU's are recruiting at a completely different level. I'm very optimistic that with a new coach and the facilities that are being completed in the next month, that next year's class really takes off. Quote

Yes, facilities and good leadership can turn the tables rather quickly. Quote

Parkers Pros Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Coach is going at it like he is not leaving regardless and needs to get “his” guys when they are available. I am pretty sure that is what we want any of our coaches to do. I’d like to see some offers for a 300 lb nose and a couple 280lb defensive ends.. 1 Quote

I do agree the 6-2 300 pounder we got should try some NG/DT. My time at UND it was not uncommon for big D-Line that are not overly twitchy get move or OL later in their careers. Once on offense line, they never crossed over to D-Line unless goal line defense. I remember him playing HS basketball against my home town. Did he play two sports or switch? Quote

Hambone Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 We offered a couple transfer NG as well Quote
90siouxfan Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 So still running the 3-4 or is nose guard just a fun term? Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 Let’s get undersized nose guards and use them as defensive ends Quote

We want talented students on campus, but as for making the football roster, the standard needs to be higher there and everyone should be in agreement. If it’s challenging to make the roster due to higher standards, they could mean more talented football team (if you’re evaluating correctly; otherwise it is just a bunch of crap and ongoing mediocrity continues). I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not and there are plenty of ways to make the stats tell any story you want but it’s not like he inherited an above average defense and ran it into the ground. He inherited no experience, had to rebuild it and performed as well as expected in one year. Bigger indicator of his abilities for me is a top 5 coach in the country trusted his abilities enough to want to retain him on his staff when moving to the most storied program in college football. 4 Quote
