Hate to be Nancy Negative here but, tonight makes basically every major rival of UND that has won back-to-back Natty's now.  What has UND done back-to-back?  Miss the (*$%&@($%*& tournament!

These have been two tough years on the ice, but I feel our grammar has improved noticeably.

If this doesn't light a huge fire under Berry's butt we have the wrong guy.  Absolutely no way that Duluth and St. Cloud should have better programs than us.  An occasional season - sure, but year after year.  Couldn't be more frustrated.

Quite a few.

Sandelin took over a not so very successful program with a limited budget and facilities.
From then to today, it's a remarkable achievement.

Once again, to be objective one should really look at Sandelins record since the Amsoil opened up.  Since then he has been lights out.  The old DECC was a horribly outdated facility.  Sandelin proves that a good coach should be able to win with nice facilities.

Sandy has had a few seasons that were worse than what we had this year.  How many times has he missed the tourney in his 19 years there?

Expand

There's a little more to the story - Sandy took over a program that hadn't won crap and played in a crappy arena.  Berry took over the top program in College Hockey playing in the best arena in College Hockey with fans that lead the nation in attendance and which has a history of developing NHL players.  Berry also inherited a team with a top line of NHLers.  Now, we are getting worse each season and have missed the playoffs for the second straight year while Sandy's team has been in three straight finals and are back to back champions.  See the difference?

Totally agree, it would be good to see those numbers.
Sandelin has the program in top shape.

Side note, I enjoy going to the Amsoil for UND games.

Hey, at least UND played the national champion close in a regular season game two years in a row.........

That is the prevailing sentiment of a large percentage of posters.  And although we were were 1-4-1 against Denver we had the puck a lot of the time.

2-2 against the national champs.  Gotta be a banner for that right?

If the Duluth guys make any type of players pact and they all come back we will be talking about a 3-peat a year from now.

We better stop them then.

Congrats to Dawgs...Melrose stated Coach Sandelin is the "best coach in college hockey, he recruits guys that'll stay 3/4 years and not the   '1 and done'.....also he's sitting on a deep talent pool....doesn't have to travel 300 miles to recruit the bulk if his team..

He is that, but I wonder if anyone sits on a deeper talent pool than UMich, if you include the talent on both sides of the border and the development program.   Add to that the tradition, campus and their academic reputation for recruits who weigh that factor. Yet it seems to have done them little good in the recent past.

Thankfully.
