Read last week that St. Thomas: 1) made ACT scores for entrance optional, 2) dropped their MBA program and 18 faculty positins, 3)?got a 20 million dollar donation for scholarships... Smells like D I to me ..

I just read the parent company of the St. Paul Pioneer Press just bought about 8-10 newspapers in Minnesota...the closest being one in Intrrbational Falls....please buy the GF Hrrald, the Bemidji Pioneer and the Duluth Ttibune and stop the 'drip, drop' death knel of Forum Comminictions of these once proud news organizations....

Read I yesterday's Strib that the NCAA will meet soon to discuss a path for U. of St.Thomas to join D I...think the. Pioneer League makes sense for them...academics stronger than MVC...also many private schools....also thinking Big East for BB...same reasoning....hockey has some issues with rink availability...perhaps WCHA or NCHC...WCHA makes more sense as the Tommie's will bring women's sports as well....enrollment is 10,000 undergrads...plus a grad school...

Wentz seems like a nice boy....just can't stay healthy...prolly should retire as concussions are life altering....Byron Buxton will also,be a bust....can't stay healthy....Twins would be smart to trade him.... Off topic I know, but similar situations....

Is WCHA...but it must be Western Michigan's fab facilities...that has them rated that high...Some of you believe the 'fake news' hype of the Heralt'...As I've said before....I do like hockey and followed UND hockey since Rube Bjorkman days...Current state of UND hockey is arrogance....by some......

5-0 win was a good start.....latest 'National Poll' had 'Hawks at #18... 6th rated team in the conference...behind the 4 usual powers plus Western Michigan....early polls don't really matter, but gives a look at what the nation of hockey thinks of a school/team....

Play for pay....now the law in California.....MN legislator bringing it up in January for that state....will affect, Gophers, Bulldogs, Beavers, Huskies, Mavericks....Will it hurt teams in states w/o such laws... in recruiting........(sidenote: this will be tested in the courts...but this morning....Lebron tasking NCAA to get onboard with this)

Pre. Season 4th place finish....closer to 5th , than 3rd.....Arena doesn't do it anymore....most everyone has good facilities...it's 'exposure' for the kid....plus community livability....Grand Forks great for the locals.....but ...pretty low for most hockey 'mercenaries'....they also don't get off on 'tradition''....it's 'what's in it for me...now!!' .....just sayin'...

Have a friend who attended the game in Fargo last weekend...several times throughout the game he heard the Bizzon 'droolers' let out the chant 'Sioux suck !@#$'...not original and speaks to a certain mentality.....however it highlights the reason 'Indian nicknames' were deemed offensive.....it's one thing to shout "Jackrabbits suck !@#$' or 'Cyclones suck !@#$'...but this is not only taking a shot at a University logo but a group of human beings.....Hope the 'Siousie sniffers' see the difference...

Kuddo's to the Herald for its coverage of Fighting Hawk football...hope it carries over into the BB season....like to see 'fair and balanced' sports coverage of sports that most Americans care about.....(it's not just about 'hits'....lots of folks still get a paper news product)

Article in today's Strib about the possibility of the University of St. Thomas and Northern Michigan adding DI women's hockey...both in discussion phase with WCHA but both have some internals to figure out....One interesting note from the commish of WCHA women's hockey..."St. Thomas has an 800 seat arena ready for use which would be about the right size for women's D I hockey"....maybe that's an issue...separate venues as the light attendance often looks sad in large men's arenas.

Some of you are upset at the arrogance of the Bizzon FB posters on this board....rightly so....but matched by the arrogance of the 'Siouzie' hockey sniffers...both need a good douse of humility.....

Yes, I knew that John'S Hopkins is a power in lacrosse and that Notre Dame has brought success and depth to the BIG in hockey, my point was/is that UND is not in the same realm of academic standing/prestige as these 2 affiliates or the BIG, which was the main reason for the non invite....
