Show me a AD UND fans haven't said sucks the last 20 years?

Seems like the easiest escape coat.

Two absolutely sucked and the reasons were obvious:

Bunning sucked and didn't last long And if didn't resign was gonna get fired. 

Roger Thomas made us stick to D2. And now we're decades behind.

The rest are just escape goats for upset fans:

Brian Faison was instrumental in starting the strongest hockey conference on the country! Yet many sh!tied on him.

And now Chaves. Who didn't fire the football coach before the season is over?! He didn't hire Bubba S or Brad Berry.

It's like the UND "Deep State" state is the bigger issue...."must hire from within"....

For the record I don't favor replacing Armacost, seems like a great president but not dealing with the sports problems is not  a good look.

Our athletic department sucks at every single sport.  There is your reason for why Chaves is bad at his job.  Not too hard (twss)

If you want to defend Chaves, go ahead. But his record speaks for itself. And it's not pretty.

I've been lukewarm on blaming it all on Bubba the last couple years.  But with him being a defensive coach and the complete deterioration of the defense over the last few years, it's pretty obvious we need to try something new.  The lack of talent on that side of the ball is striking and has been for a while now.  

Side question - how often do FCS head coaches get canned?  I don't claim to follow a ton outside of UND but it doesn't seem like it's real common.  Imagine buyouts at the FCS level are tough to swallow, can't imagine many programs have a million bucks to throw away.  

Can hope Bubba just hangs it up and maybe they come to a settlement where he takes on another role in the athletic dept for a few years as I'm sure it's hard for him to walk away from 750k.

Defensively something has to change.  The offense was fine this year…..potentially better with a new look but less overall experience/talent from last year.  
 

The buyout number is high but the AD needs to figure out what now having to rebuild momentum in the program costs.  What do season ticket renewals look like next year, business sponsors, etc.  I don’t know the answer to a tough question

And the second post (in that thread from Sept. 2013) was again @jdub27 protecting Mussman and trying to deflect away from conversation about meaningful change … WOW!

unreal … you can’t make this stuff up. UND’s athletics culture as a DI program is so mediocre and broken … and apparently has been for a while.

Do we want championships or participation awards?

I think we may need to consider renaming the champions club to the participation club if we keep Bubba any longer …

Name one hire that Chaves has made that has worked out in any meaningful way.

This being University of North Dakota athletics, I fully realize a coaching change after this year is highly unlikely. Where I’m holding onto hope for a change, is the direction of this program is now “unspinable”. It’s a feeling that has never been this clear. Agree or disagree (most disagreed), but even this most recent extension, you could spin it as, well, they’ve made the playoffs X years in a row. Just need to fix Y to take the next step.

It’s the final minute of the first half in three of the last four games. It’s every time they step on the road. Coaching staff has completely failed. It’s broken and it will not be fixed while Bubba is still the coach. They will not make the playoffs moving forward, while Bubba is still the coach. 
 

The other Dakota schools and the Montanas will lose a guy or two to the portal (except for SDSU), but will largely keep their key players. It’s why the are Top 10 teams. Last year, UND for the first time lost more than usual. That was a big sign. This year I’m guessing will be worse.

There’s no way to spin this anymore. Maybe UND athletics will take a step forward and finally realize the only thing missing is Coaching.

Chaves defense of Bubba will be something to the tune of UND is one of 5 (making this number up) programs to make the FCS playoffs 4 of the last 6 years. I know he talked about that a lot last year.

And this is where apathy sets in and strong consideration towards separating one’s self away from this mess …

UND leadership needs to prevent this and pay accordingly. With that said, donors (including myself) are willing to contribute in order for the right thing to happen.
