Maybe replacing should reach even higher... is the president safe from scrutiny? President Armacost is by far the best President since Tom Clifford. Looking at the more important issues, Enrollment is growing, donations are up, new buildings and remodeling continue and our national reputation grows and the legislators seem to respect him. He isn’t going anywhere. Presidents this good are hard to find. 12 Quote

sioux24/7 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I just wish bubba wouldn’t have tarnished his legacy and stepped away on his own terms. 2 Quote

I knew when I posted this that saying legacy wasn’t going to be well liked. I still think he did good for the university and elevated the program but we got to a point he couldn’t exceed. I mainly meant where he didn’t go out with such a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. 1 Quote

To be fair he took the program from 3 wins, to 5 wins, to 7 wins than 9 wins and a share of the Big Sky championship. After that it has been pretty stagnant. Now regressing. Quote

Cratter Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Show me a AD UND fans haven't said sucks the last 20 years? Seems like the easiest escape coat. Needs to stop. Two absolutely sucked and the reasons were obvious: Bunning sucked and didn't last long And if didn't resign was gonna get fired. Roger Thomas made us stick to D2. And now we're decades behind. The rest are just escape goats for upset fans: Brian Faison was instrumental in starting the strongest hockey conference on the country! Yet many sh!tied on him. And now Chaves. Who didn't fire the football coach before the season is over?! He didn't hire Bubba S or Brad Berry. It's like the UND "Deep State" state is the bigger issue...."must hire from within".... 2 Quote

Cratter Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Didn't fire a coach? Fire the AD! President didn't fire the AD for not firing the coach? Fire the President! Lol Quote
Cratter Posted November 17 Posted November 17 "Bubba you've been running UND football for a decade with some of the best facilities and budgets and have only won one playoff game?!" "That is unacceptable!" "But it's not your fault....the deep state told me you were better than the other guy that was 2nd place....the guy now coaching Alabama football....Saban's replacement!" Quote
Cratter Posted November 17 Posted November 17 "But Faison sucks....him picking Bubba proves it" ....a poll on Sioux Sports: Bubba vs the future head coach of Alabama... Was like 53% to 47%..... It was close..... "Jamie pull that old poll up." Quote
90siouxfan Posted November 17 Posted November 17 For the record I don't favor replacing Armacost, seems like a great president but not dealing with the sports problems is not a good look. Quote
UND1983 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Our athletic department sucks at every single sport. There is your reason for why Chaves is bad at his job. Not too hard (twss) 3 Quote
HoopsFan03 Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I think someone likes Chaves….. @jdub27 burner account??? Quote

He was a 5th year Sophomore at UND back in the day if that says anything. Juggling multiple accounts isn't in his wheelhouse. 2 Quote

I've seen that exact same argument for every athletic director and every major head coach for UND over the last 25+ years. Sorta rings hollow when its constantly thrown around. Quote

Devils Posted November 17 Posted November 17 I've been lukewarm on blaming it all on Bubba the last couple years. But with him being a defensive coach and the complete deterioration of the defense over the last few years, it's pretty obvious we need to try something new. The lack of talent on that side of the ball is striking and has been for a while now. Side question - how often do FCS head coaches get canned? I don't claim to follow a ton outside of UND but it doesn't seem like it's real common. Imagine buyouts at the FCS level are tough to swallow, can't imagine many programs have a million bucks to throw away. Can hope Bubba just hangs it up and maybe they come to a settlement where he takes on another role in the athletic dept for a few years as I'm sure it's hard for him to walk away from 750k. Quote
Cratter Posted November 17 Posted November 17 There will even be a repeat of this entire thread: Which is fun. We should fire ADs and coaches more often. just for my own entertainment purposes. 1 Quote
homer Posted November 17 Posted November 17 Defensively something has to change. The offense was fine this year…..potentially better with a new look but less overall experience/talent from last year. The buyout number is high but the AD needs to figure out what now having to rebuild momentum in the program costs. What do season ticket renewals look like next year, business sponsors, etc. I don’t know the answer to a tough question 1 Quote
