But Bubba shouldn't be coaching for his job this Saturday. He should be coaching the last game of his career regardless. I agree with all of this.

Or to football programs we cherry picked to support the narrative... modern society has fed my cynical nature well lately.

A lot of the same habits that make someone a successful athlete also carry over to academics (work ethic, discipline, attitude, commitment, fighting through adversity, time management). With a few regrettable exceptions, our student-athletes have generally done well in the classroom over the years (Karl Goehring is one example). And I don't see why that ever has to change.

A common perception, and probably correct but for the people from Missouri, hard info is king.

Getting a seed is currently a better indication that you will compete.

Nice....so a lot like d2 and Northwest Missouri State: Not getting a participation ribbon in a water down division and waiting 2 year of missed playoffs before firing the coach.

Bubba has two conference titles so hopefully the new guy can do better than three conference titles. Hopefully the guy takes the program on an upward projectary from when he took over. Unlike the NWMS guy. Who took one at the top and only took it downward.

Yeah trying to say its not high standards to fire a coach after missing two straight years of playoffs. Especially when he took over a program that has the most titles in D2. And they had won multiple right before he took over. I consider that low standards. Maybe that's just me.

UND1983
But seriously, the guy was 65-22 at D2 level and got canned. Because the athletic department expects championships. Are we so far gone that we don't even expect championships anymore?
