can't they review that like they did in the ndac und game?

Quote

When it comes to an elbow above the shoulders, referees will be allowed to use a video monitor to determine the severity of the blow. If deemed inadvertent, the referee could call a player-control foul or even nothing.

I bet a lot of the 35 was in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Actually on the radio broadcast with 2 minutes to go.   Before UND started to foul to extend the game.  They said foul shots were 25 to 9.   20 to 3 at that point in the 2nd half.  Certainly it was unfortunate to get homered to that degree, but they played hard and gave everything by the sounds of it.

Also to a previous posters comment on dealing with Morgan and maybe doubling.  They tried guarding him with nearly everyone, but they also talked about how UNI, had just made 20 3's against SDSU on Wednesday night...they felt if they doubled, he was such a good player he would find a lot of open players for open 3's.  Sometimes you have to pick your poison.  That's understandable

If we get the Shanks from last night we will be tough the rest of the season.  Very quick in his decision making and played under control on defense.  Will be interesting to see how his rematch with Werner goes this week.

Still bothered by the refs officiating last night.  Their calls kept UNI around.  They swallowed their whistles when UND was on offense.  The no call on Hookers three point attempt down three was unacceptable.

If you go into a non conference game against a higher ranked or more "esteemed" conference and expect to get a fair shake then you haven't been paying attention.

Been several examples this year of games being called in a one sided manner to favor the "known" team or conference....did nobody see the FGCU vs. Michigan St. reffing debacle?

If this is the case, then NCAA basketball is on the same level as Olympic Figure Skating and/or Boxing. Ridiculous.

Then maybe congress better take a look at the NCAA as we see more and more games being refed unfairly not only in this sport but football too. If the NCAA is going to do nothing about officiating maybe higher up is the way to go.

Yeah if I ever want something fixed, I just get congress involved.

The point is, Congress has the power to take away their tax exempt status and their anti-trust exemption. Those are two things they desperately want to hang onto.

Exactly. We all know congress could work harder. But if a congressman brings to the floor an investigation into possible fixed games from the NCAA there is a whole host of people that will be involved, including media, people who handle the gambling bets in Vegas, and of course social media. The NCAA can't afford to get into a mess like that especially when it could cost them $$$$$.

Perfect example of why college bb   is so hard to watch at times.  Does anyone have a count for how many times in a row the refs called a foul on UND in that second half?  Home cookin' is understandable to a degree, but that was just damn ridiculous.  And no other sport is influenced more by the refs than basketball.  Just let the kids play!

UND practically had the game won until the refs decided to get involved and call fouls on UND, but yet our players got nothing on an elbow to the face or on a 3 point shot. There should be an investigation or some kind of complaint by UND to the NCAA about this. Does anyone know what conference these refs were from?

9 first half turnovers and 15 total is too many, especially against a team as good as UNI, with more than a few "dumb" ones mixed in that were just sloppy play.

Seemed to be a similar game plan in the second half against Morgan/UNI as they used against Werner/NDSU: Don't let their shooters get going and hope he cools off. Morgan didn't and on top of that, was able to get to the line.

It feels like a better showing than last year, but almost as frustrating because it felt like they let this one go. Learn from it and take care of business Friday night. #OwnTheState #OwnTheFarm

Who said anything about fixed games?

alleging some kind of conspiracy is insane. college basketball refs just suck at their job.

and on a subconscious level they tend to favor the team who plays in the conference they work for in a non conference game. Gotta protect the RPI and deal with the coaches on a continuing basis. Many of these officials represent more than 1 conference and are usually part of a group of geographically related conferences.

For example

The Valley will join Conference USA, the Big 12, Ohio Valley and Southland conferences in the Men’s Basketball Officiating Consortium beginning with the 2016-17 season.

....no big deal if they piss off a Big Sky coach.

and likewise

The Pac-12, Mountain West, Big West, West Coast and Western Athletic Conferences are further expanding their men’s basketball officiating consortium to include the Big Sky Conference for the 2016-17 season.
