Shawn-O Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 It can be ugly at times, but they are finding ways to win! Quote
siouxfan512 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 If Stud is hurt can we trade for Bradford? or maybe Philly has a QB we could get? 1 Quote
UNDMOORHEAD Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Well done boys. Defense came up HUGE in this game. Quote
siouxfan512 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 We should really consider kicking out of bounds next week. N Colorado has some tremendous kick returners. Quote
Sioux94 Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 We figured out a way to win.....that is what we needed to do, that is what good teams do. That sure wasn't pretty though......and can't say I have a great feeling. However it certainly beats the alternative and losing. Quote
Sioux>Bison Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 This team may be young and not very deep , but they find a way to win like a bunch of veterans. Great performance today from the best D in the FCS. I can't wait to watch this team in the years to come! Quote
Dustin Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Nice to get the win. Unfortunately, this game is asking more questions than answering them. 1 Quote

Feff Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 UND needs to develop another QB. Heidlebaugh (sp?) Completed his one pass but it was ugly and they took him out after so not sure they have much confidence in him. Bartles, well, we know what Bartles is at this point and he's gone next season. We need a true "heir apparent", one that can spell Studsrud next year but also one that can try to push him in the off-season, so we avoid the early season slump he had (hopefully). Quote
Sioux94 Posted October 29, 2016 Author Posted October 29, 2016 Why have Heidlebaugh as the #2 QB if you have that little confidence in him that you pull him right away and don't trust him. Seems wierd. Quote
Oxbow6 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 5 takeaways..... 1) That's a top 5 FCS defense UND has 2) KO coverage is brutal 3) No real threat at WR 4) Embarrassing fan support 5) Rudolph is a joke...see #7 in a sling. See 47 total yards passing 1 Quote
HawkinNutts Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Solid Performance by the defense. 4 turnovers in Reyes's return shows his worth for this team. My takeaways: 1. Defense is good, to win against UND you will need to throw the ball AND not turn it over, hard to do both against this team. 2. Next man up: with our rushing defense and our running game, there should not be much asked from the quarterback position. UND should be able to coach the next quarterback up to "manage the game" especially against No Colo. 3. Special teams NEEDS to be an emphasis this week. We cannot continue to allow long returns that disrupts the field position game. With our defense (and offense) it is paramount that the field position game be controlled by UND. As always, Hoka Hey, Go Hawks! Quote

Oxbow6 Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Studs had 9 carries for 3 yards.....and a throwing shoulder injury Quote
Cratter Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Studs has the "it" factor, without him the past years UND was a completely different team. Quote

UND may not find the momentum it needed without that play. Without the injury (that BTW happened on a QB sweep, not QB power) UND's passing game would've picked up. Only after the backups were in did we completely telegraph which plays were coming. Studs could've been injured like that on any play, not Rudolph's fault. Quote

SiouxTupa Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 The O line hasn't been getting nearly enough push to spring the run game. The last few teams haven't had great run D, but they've done fine against us. Put that together with an injured Studs and that's a recipe for the D needing to win the game. The pass rush was great in the 2nd half. And having Reyes back makes the secondary dangerous again. 1 Quote

I'll go back to UND's first 2 offensive series.......WSU had 8 in the box with deep safety within 10-12 yards of the line of scrimmage....not even a PA pass called. Became a numbers game. Tough to get a push being outnumbered most of the game. 1 Quote
