Blackheart
Jerry Jones of the Cowboys just announced that the game will be moved to AT&T Stadium which seats 105,000 plus....unfortunately he's asking those in attendance to purchase a personal seat license at $135 each in order to qualify to buy a ticket.

I've donated more than that over the past couple years since moving back to Grand Forks, and I'm only around 1100 in the priority points list. Regional tickets did not make it to that level, although apparently I could have bought Vegas tickets. 401 and above were all opened up at the same time. If you tried when the sale opened, you got them. Not guaranteed but odds are significantly better than the public sale.
dmksioux
If more people had donated to the Champions Club, UND officials would've have seen that there would be more demand for tickets for this game. Then perhaps T-Mobile Arena could've been a better alternative. Money talks...especially with the tight budget constraints UND is currently in. 3

Unfortunately, I'm not a "business folk" in that I don't sign the contract. I have spent the last 10 years working in college and professional athletics. The T-Mobile arena was built to make money for itself, not to be a comped arena. The attached hotel and casino will have no trouble making boatloads of money on Halloween weekend without UND fans. Unfortunately, a hockey arena in Las Vegas costs more than one in Grand Forks. T-Mobile can instead have a concert that will sell out and make more money. That's why the cost is and can be so high. Wednesday, March 30, 2011 The Price Of A Concert: Breaking Down Where The Money Goes How on Earth can these performers justify their $100 - $250 ticket price? Venue Most venues are paid up front, and they get paid whether the concert is successful or not. The average cost to rent an arena is around $20,000/night while the average cost to rent an amphitheater is around $10,000/night. Smaller clubs cost less, but their capacity is also less. Popular Post ksixpack
Look, my intent is not to throw anyone under the bus on this deal but instead to shoot down the inaccurate defending of our 'officials' as the Herald referred to them today. They played it safe and looked to just make a profit by playing at Orleans Arena. They underestimated the market big time for this game. 7500 seats sold out for this game before the general public and the opposing team had a chance to purchase; sold out 20 months in advance of the game! I am sure the Orleans Arena has never sold out 20 months in advance of an event. Not sure if I have ever heard of any event selling out 20 months in advance of an event. I know there are many UND fans that didn't get a chance to buy tickets for this event that are pissed and rightfully so. Just think how many MN fans will be irate as well! There are tons of MN alumni in the Vegas area that have no chance to attend the game as well as thousands of MN season ticket holders. Don't tell me that our arena or Minnesota's arena aren't always sold out either. That is very shallow thinking. This is an event, not just another game. This is a UND/MN Game in Vegas! Everyone loves Vegas and combine Vegas with hockey and you knew that it was an easy sell. In addition, there is no other major city in America easier to get to then Las Vegas. Our 'officials' played it safe and narrow minded and the left a lot of opportunity on the table. Hundreds of thousands of dollars in more revenue could have and should have been hauled in by our university. This in light of the budget cuts our University faces once again. Those that have the right to be pissed by this lost opportunity should also include those that are affiliated with those sports that again are on the chopping block!
AJS
I wouldn't bet on it, but I wonder if the powers at be are taking a look at a switch? I don't know what kind of penalties there'd be, or how the contract was written with the Orleans arena, but I'd be disappointed if they weren't at least looking into it. The way I look at it, this is still 20 months away, reassigning tickets would be a hassle, but could easily be done for everyone currently with a ticket. They sold 8,000 tickets before it was even on sale to the general public. The potential buyers are any Non-Champions Club UND fan as well as the entire Gopher fan base. Without a doubt you have 5,000 easily in that group ($500,000), but each 1,000 added to that list is an extra $100,000 of pure profit. They have time to fix this, I hope they can. Edit: The more I think about this, the more I think that they have to be looking into it. There's no reason not to. We aren't talking about potential revenue anymore. Them not knowing if 8,000 would show up (Orleans Arena perfect fit) or 9,000 total (where the extra costs wouldn't make the T-Mobile arena a good fit). This is as close to a guarantee as you can get that like I put above, you'd get an extra 4 or 5K people. Probably more than that, but there's no risk in the under to that.
Cratter
Sent a snapchat to about 12 people of the countdown timer saying I'm ready to buy tickets...6 people snapped me back the same thing. Demand for this game is through the roof. As someone said probably greatest demand ticket in the history of UND hockey. With that said, I don't see them switching arenas. InHeavenThereIsNoBeer
There's 20 months until this game... tickets will come available as life happens for the majority of the people that have tickets. I have no idea what will happen for me by this October, let alone a year from than. If a person really wants to and keeps their eyes open they'll be able to find tickets for a decent price. Are you sure that UND would have been the one to get all those profits? The REA purchased the rights for the game and the game itself is used to generate revenue for the US Hockey Hall of Fame. I think you are overestimating how much extra revenue would have been generated for UND directly. And a counterpoint to your last comment, what if the game flopped? There were people outside of UND who actually work in the industry who worked with them on this. The decision was made to go for a packed house and know what they were getting vs. rolling the dice and hoping for the best. Working with the people and info they had, they made what they thought was the best call. Hindsight is obviously 20/20 and I would love to have more tickets but that ship has sailed at this point. Quote What is the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game? The U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game is an exempt game, or an extra game, that is played every season in an attempt to generate much‐needed revenue for the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum in Eveleth, Minn. Ralph Engelstad Arena purchased the rights to the 2018 U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Game from the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame and Museum. This game provides the opportunity for UND and Minnesota to play one additional game above and beyond the NCAA maximum number of games normally allowed in a season. In essence, this is an “extra” regular season game for both UND and Minnesota during the 2018‐2019 season.
