haha I was going to write the same thing.

Of course it was a bit!  Listen to the "news guy" laugh in the background - it was totally a tongue in cheek bit.  Giveaway was him saying they haven't beaten an FCS opponent in "months and months"   Almost as funny is how much it's irritating the BISOnATION:-)   They try to act like they're big-time but all the real big time schools think they're a joke.  Priceless!:-)

I am surprised the Bison faithful aren't calling for a game against Alabama.

Haha, some of them have. Obviously it wouldn't be the typical NDSU vs. FBS game, but if there was an FCS program that could even compete with Bama it would be the Bison. You just can't argue with their success or the program they have built ... it is impressive. I only hope UND can take some strides towards that type of success and competitiveness. Unfortunately, we are now starting over with Bubba, but it was still a move in the right direction. Go Sioux!

Don't worry Lakes will have that BV crowd chanting we want the Tide and Roll Bison.

I'm certainly no fan of 'su, but it was kind of fun at Trice watching the ISU faithful deflate against "some second tier, FCS school" as someone called them.  Good on the Bison.

Now, I have to shower ... ;)

Of course this guy is being satirical in his editorial. But you have to admit that part of his references to the FCS being inferior were probably not part of the act nor the thinking of many of audience. Check out his response to the aftermath of the Bison win over the Cyclones if you  hadn't already.

Alabama and the SEC are a different universe from Iowa State and the Big 12.  They would get overpowered in the trenches on both sides of the ball and their QB would get destroyed and possibly injured in the process.  FU is smart not seeking games against FBS powers like Alabama and Oregon (and yes South Dakota, that is a reference to you).

South Dakota State, despite losing its QB, looked respectable against SEC member Missiouri I thought. Also, Georgia Southern, in 2012, played Alabama tough and rushed for over 300 yards against them (we later destroyed GSU in the playoff semi's--no, not comparing scores, just providing reference materials).  So, to say NDSU would just get detroyed by the top 25 teams is just a bit of a stretch and we wouldn't know unless the game or games were actually played.  Not saying we would win a bunch or any of those games, but I don't think we would embarass the State of North Dakota or the FCS if we played them.

I guess I wasn't talking about Top 25, I was thinking more along the lines of Top 10 or Top 5.  I think FU could hang with Alabama for one quarter and maybe part of the second quarter, but then the overwhelming depth and talent level of the Tide would take over.

Very possible, if not probable, especially is Alabama didn't overlook us--and I don't think they would given our performances against FBS teams.

Recall what App State did to then No. 1 Michigan tho?!

AGS!!

2011 is the year you're thinking of for both the Alabama/GSU game and where NDSU shut down the triple option.  2012 is the year GSU outgained NDSU by quite a bit and NDSU needed a TD in the last few minutes to prevent getting knocked off.

Maybe they should have the FBS champ meet the FCS champ in an OOC neutral field game the following year. FSU vs NDSU from say Cowboys Stadium.
