As much as some people dismiss this, FCS as a brand is looked at as inferior. A high performing athletics school like Wichita St doesn't like the FCS label. As an FBS startup, they could play a weak schedule and avoid the Mvfc. Their basketball would eventually get them in the MW, AAC or CUSA. If joining today's FBS level provides a boost to self confidence to the alumni and will get them to buy tix, then by all means join up if you can find a conference home.
