yellowknife Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Wow wonder if that means brad berry is coming back Quote
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Hakstol says "I felt a need to redefine and restructure the roles and duties within our coaching staff." Wow, that's a shock. I wonder what Hakstol means with the above statement and how that pertains to Eades not coming back. Quote
UNDBIZ Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Hakstol says "I felt a need to redefine and restructure the roles and duties within our coaching staff." Wow, that's a shock. I wonder what Hakstol means with the above statement and how that pertains to Eades not coming back. Perhaps it's an "I don't like people giving Eades credit for my success" kind of thing?? Quote
BigGreyAnt41 Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 While we're speculating.... When I read about Hakstol's new contract and how much money was allocated for the two assistant coaches, I was surprised how little it would mean for each assistant compared to the head coach. Could it be that Hakstol is taking the "fall" for Eades simply wanting more money and leaving because of it? Quote
hrkac Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 My guess is that it has to do with recruiting.... Eades: "I can also hold my head high knowing that our shelves are stocked with talent for next year's team and beyond." Quote

I noticed that too. No wonder he wanted the Mankato job.... Quote

SiouxForever Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Pure speculation, but I believe we'll see Mr. Brad Berry back at UND. Quote
Big A HG Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I hope this doesn't turn out to be an Osiecki type result for UND. I know the situation is different, but you never know. Quote
hrkac Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Breaking News: I'm announcing i'm putting my name in the hat for the position! Quote
siouxjoy Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 My first thought was that Hakstol has decided to eliminate the Associate Head Coach position and just have Assistant Coaches. Can you really "demote" someone? Quote
yellowknife Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 They will be looking for a defense coach so Brad Berry is the best bet to be back at UND Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Berry is with Columbus in NHL, do you think he would come back to NCAA? (Yes, I know Columbus is a horrible team...) Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Berry is with Columbus in NHL, do you think he would come back to NCAA? (Yes, I know Columbus is a horrible team...) Dean Blais left the NHL for the USHL and then the NCAA. Not everyone loves the NHL lifestyle. Quote

SIOUXFAN97 Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I hope we look outside the normal names on the list and offer the job to Hrkac... Quote
Snake Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Berry is with Columbus in NHL, do you think he would come back to NCAA? (Yes, I know Columbus is a horrible team...) But, is his position in Columbus secure? Richards is "interim." Quote
Let'sGoHawks! Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Listen to us all speculating about the next guy for the job, shame on us. I'd like to thank Cary Eades for his tremendous commitment to UND over the years. Good luck Cary! 4 Quote

I'd like to thank Cary Eades for his tremendous commitment to UND over the years. Good luck Cary! Speculation!!! On a discussion forum!!! How could we?!?! The idea that this situation is "none of our business" is absurd. An assistant coach for a major Division I hockey program is being let go. Like it or not, it's big news. Especially since nobody saw it coming. And that is what discussion forums are for. I for one will not apologize for speculating on what happens next. And no one else has to, either. Quote
