Exactly why give up a coveted NCHC spot for nothing.

Tell ASU if they want an NCHC slot they have to join the Summit in all other sports. The PAC is going under anyway. :D

if st thomas wanted scholly FCS/FBS football do they have enough land to expand their current fb stadium?  us bank stadium?  the loons soccer stadium?  are those options?

They’ve done it before. Not sure if season overlaps with Loons season.

Fun video, I kind of wonder if St. John's would be interested in a move similar to what St. Thomas did now that a process is in place.  Maybe tSL leadership should check the temperature on that option.  A tSL football conference with the rivalries of SJU/StT, UND/NDSU, USD/SDSU and the other combinations would be fun.

On the same day Loyola announced its departure, CBS Sports reported that the MVC was actively pursuing further expansion, having entered into talks with the University of Missouri–Kansas City (known athletically as Kansas City), Murray State University, and the University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington). The report indicated that the latter two were considered the strongest candidates, but that all three were likely to receive invitations in the coming months.[11] On January 7, 2022, the MVC announced that Murray State would officially join the conference on July 1 of that year.[12] UT Arlington would soon remove itself from the list of candidates by announcing a 2022 move to the Western Athletic Conference.[13]

did crappy murray state only get in over umkc bc they have a fb team to cockblock the Summit League FB playing schools?..........

No.  Murray got into the MVC despite FB.  They were wanted by many of the MVC schools for a while.

the mighty MVC isn't what it used to be.....

if Fenton can find 6 FB playing schools (already has 4)...what would the MVFC do?  how crappy of a league would those MVC football schools be happy playing in......would they just straight up drop football?  doubt it.

it's been 7 years since a FB scholly school won the MVC and only 4 times time the last 14 years (all UNI)...if the DAK 4 FB left it would be hard choice for a school like UNI or Illinois State to keep dumping $$ into FCS football and and playing scrubs....while watching non fb (bradley) / non scholly fb schools (drake) win the League.

Seems like there is only 3 paths forward for Fenton...

1. Steal from MVC (Summit 2.1)

UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, St Thomas, Omaha, Denver, KC, Oral Roberts ....and Drake, UNI, and Mo State

12 schools, 8 football (FBS), 4 hockey...

2. Merge with Big Sky Conference (Mon-Dak 2.1)

UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, St Thomas, Omaha........Montana, MSU, Idaho, Weber St, Portland St or Sac State, Denver (six east...six west)

12 schools, 10 football (FBS), 4 hockey

3.  Bring Back NCC (NCC 2.1)

UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU, St Thomas, Omaha, Mankato State, St Cloud, Augie, Denver, KC, Oral Bob (probably would lose KC and Bobby)

12 schools, 6 FCS FB, 7 hockey

arena is so so...academics...so so....football sucks....low media/population center.

would'nt St. Thomas been a better add? and a total kill shot to the Summit League?

The MVCs bread and butter is basketball.  Murray State has been one of the most dominant teams in the Ohio Valley Conference in basketball, so it made sense from that aspect to add them.

UST has amazing potential, however at this point it is potential right now.

Murray State is the more proven product right now.  Could this change in 2-3 years?  Yes.
