FBS is at 105 scholarships. Will NDSU have to add multiple women’s sports?

My guess is that they plan to drop either wrestling or baseball, and add at least one women's sport (tennis or swimming?).

Women's hockey:D?

funny you say that bc it should be something that they should look at .....if they make this move their "trophy case" is permanently closed....closed forever.

women's hockey would at least give them a path to a trophy (true d1a varsity trophy at that)

und still has 2 paths...hockey and football

FCS isn't just a different planet than FBS, it's a different solar system.

This is a much bigger move, where the big $$$$$ P4 programs can buy and sell the G6 programs many times over.

Aside from an occasional upset of a P4 team on the road and a crappy bowl game victory in December, what else is there for FU except bigger and bigger bar tabs?

I agree.  It sounds like a complete waste of money at this time for ndsu.  The football landscape will no doubt keep evolving and when the right opportunity comes along, more likely as a group rather than going it alone, it might make sense to move up at that time.

If are so happy about this, why don't you go down there and cheer them on and "be a part of it"?

But don't think for one minute I'll be joining you.

You probably have them in the CFP as soon as they are eligible. But moving from D2 to FCS is 1000% different than moving from FCS to FBS. This is a much more expensive move requiring millions of dollars annually to compete with FBS budgets. The bills won't stop coming in the mail; they will keep coming and get larger as time goes on.

And there is NO WAY IN HELL I will support playing any FBS money games in the FFD. Let them go to Alabama or Georgia for money games like a good little G5 program. We should NEVER, EVER play them again in FB while we are in different classifications.

Again, support them if you want. But I don't think most people on here will join you.

I am not an NDSU fan.

I am a fan of common sense though.

Who is paying the bills for the MWC? Entrance fee, higher staff pay,……. Is the mountain west going to pay them anything for media? NDSU will have to make up for the new millions of dollars now needed.

The FargoDome also now becomes the biggest dump in the MWC

If we’re adding a women’s sport, my money is on wrestling.

I don’t think there is an option to not add a women’s sport.  Borderline title 9 right now.

I agree with the evolving part but what happens if those that aren't FBS are locked out and can't move up?   Remember, we narrowly avoided the 5 year moratorium imposed by the NCAA when we announced the move to D1.   I think we got under the wire by something like a month or we would have had to wait 5 years.   NCAA keeps putting more restrictions on all the time.   The $5 million fee was just added, who knows what's coming next.

Unless they cut baseball or something maybe?

Ndsu can't cut sports. Currently sponsoring the bare minimum i think. May need to add a ladies sport.

I don’t have any answers.  (Just ask my wife.)  but I guess to me it seems like we are in the wild West era of the NCAA where anything goes, and even if there are rules in place anyone who sues them, wins.
I could certainly be wrong but I don’t envision the ncaa coming up with or enforcing any strict rules that would deter movement.

Could very well be true. It’s just hard for me tell if the NCAA has rules anymore. 😐

That's the same bull$h!t I heard from Doomsday Preachers on the hockey forum last year who insisted we will have to settle for being a Mid-Major in hockey because of NIL and the transfer portal.

I'm sick of being told we have to settle for less in everything. That attitude has held us back for decades and it will continue to do so unless we start thinking big.

We need to modernize our fundraising. We absolutely have to stop relying on one donor for everything. We need to be prepared for the next big shake up in college football, which is coming because the status quo is not sustainable in the long run.

As for Imperial Cass County being equal to Minneapolis, let's wait until they have their own Congressional District like Omaha before we start calling them that.

The other confusing part to me is moving up for this fall already. Don’t you have to announce earlier, I thought this would mean for fall of ‘27.

But like you said, there are no rules anymore. NDSU can probably sue and not have a transition period.:D
