gfhockey Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Did you guys want me to take a suggestion to the GOBC? Right now we talked about a few and the leading on so far was Big Cocks Quote

GreenWing Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 How about the University of North Dakota Originals. Honors the states settlers and notates that we are the original university of the state. Inspired by the Oakland athletics, yes I have been drinking. Just a thought Quote
Mamba Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The idea to nickname UND "The North Dakota Originals" was inspired by the Oakland Athletics? The same Athletics who where the Kansas City Athletics before Oakland ... who where the Philadelphia Athletics before Kansas City ... I'm not feeling the same inspiration. Quote
GreenWing Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 The Athletics that were on Sportscenter last night. Don't get a headache Mamba. I'm not saying the A's are Original. I'm saying the Athletics and Originals are both unambiguous names that get abbreviated to a letter Quote
scpa0305 Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Roughriders, Nokotas, Wolves have been approved. Please pass that along to the committee. Wasn't Prairie Wolves approved...or was it just Wolves. I heard Prairie Wolves. I did hear about Rough Riders, I would have liked that had RR not already had that nickname for the last 50. Quote

I'm MafiaMan...and I do NOT approve this message. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Between the Minnesota (Timber) Wolves and the SD Coyotes I think Wolves (though not a bad idea) is not workable. Quote

NoiseInsideMyHead Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Have we beaten up on "Sentinels" yet? http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sentinel?s=t Fits well with the state's cold war motif, nukes, Cavalier Air Station radar, Border Patrol. Quote
DamStrait Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 I'll say it again - Scouts or Corps of Discovery with a new logo based on at least two of the figures in this image: Quote

I never said I was for it....don't shoot the messenger I actually laughed the first time I heard it too, however I laughed at all other ideas too. This isn't going to be easy. Quote
johndahl Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Can't help but note that one of North Dakota's official nicknames is the "Roughrider State" - see: http://www.nd.gov/content.htm?parentCatID=74&id=Nicknames Quote
Emerald joker Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 How about Alpha Wolfs, hmm not quite there but getting close? Quote
82SiouxGuy Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 Can't help but note that one of North Dakota's official nicknames is the "Roughrider State" - see: http://www.nd.gov/content.htm?parentCatID=74&id=Nicknames That has been noted many times. North Dakota has also been known as the Sioux State at times in the past along with those listed. For various reasons, I don't see any of those used for the new UND nickname. Quote
KoolGuy2K Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 How about the Fighting Millers. We do have a flour mill. Quote
