According to the Herald's classifieds, the work, if awarded, must be complete by August 24,2012.

The project is located within the main seating bowl and large event area within the existing Alerus Center, located at 1200 N 42nd Street in Grand Forks, ND

So there is no confusion the Alerus didn't move, they are NOT 2 blocks from Gateway Drive...the address should be South 42nd Street.

What happened to the Canadian pro football player that went to UND, that said he was going to donate big money for a new football stadium?

The person you're referring to is Dave Fennell. There has been plenty of message board speculation that he may donate a large sum of money to UND for football/new stadium, but as far as I recall, he never personally said or pledged that money.

The FargoDome's new turf is said to be costing in the neighborhood of $3 million, with bids expected to "come in lower". Today's GF Herald estimated the new turf at the Alerus Center to be $4 milliion. And it sounded like that was a bottom number, as bids may be higher.

Serious question here... why the huge difference? Is this because of a bidding war?

Nope.

It's because (because of what what stated on this site) the Bison secondary is slow. Therefore, to make them look faster, the FargoDome uses only 75% of the field size that they do at the Alerus and other stadiums. Therefore, in the FargoDome, a yard there is only 27" as opposed to normal football field's 36".

Aren't you glad you asked? :whistling:

Why do you seem to have such a hardon for NDSU these past couple of weeks?

I would guess that the cost of the turf itself is probably similar at both locations if they are both specified as the exact same product. My guess for the large difference in cost for each project would be for all of the other work required to handle the new turf.

The existing pits at the Fargodome don't need much work done to them to accept the new turf whereas the Alerus center pits need to be almost completely redone for the new turf.

Wonder if faison and co. can get someone to help sponsor the Alerus's field

it will look really bad if we dont

Rydell? Altru? Bergstrom?

Plenty of big Business's can do this. Make sure they get there check in before the end of the year like gate city for tax purposes though

Granted we arent going to get a million for it but anything helps
