St. Thomas @ UND 9/05/26

Might as well start this thread. 3:00 game this week. We had an impressive start leading 42-0 at the half last week. 
 

Our backups need to play better including qb2. We gave up three tds in the second half and we didn’t score in the second half and that is a concern in my mind. 
 

I hope our experienced o line shines this week. Our d was dominant in the first half last week. Expect the same this week.

The beat down should be much worse than LIU.  St. Thomas topped  D2 Winona State by 6 this weekend.  Non scholarship team and conference, will probably be favored by 50

Can’t take anyone lightly, but should be another good game to keep building depth. Portland State game might be more difficult than anyone thought, so this is a good chance to get some things ironed out.

Why schedule a home game Labor Day weekend?

students go home, harvest going

have a hard time getting fans on a normal weekend playing a good team 

bringing in a bad team

way to go AD, maybe $5 ticket deal will attract some fans

Why? To play football at home in the Alerus Center and win a football game… go 1-0 each week, whether it’s Labor Day or whatever. 

What better to do on Labor Day weekend than watch football on a Saturday afternoon? 
 

And we aren’t having a hard time getting fans. Been well over 10,000 every game in the Schmidt era, and those numbers are rising.

If you aren't using your tickets take the extra time to list them for free and get some new fans in the stands, especially a dad being able to take his kids.

We are in the Valley. Losing NDSU hurts but the conference will still get a ton of respect when it comes to seeding. We snuck into the playoffs last year at 7-5 and it could have gone either way.
 

Nebraska is still a very good opponent and it appears Portland State will be much improved with their 1st year coach. This non con schedule is very similar to all of the other top teams in the Valley.

MVFC schedule and a playing a P4 team. SOS will be fine. Please provide one example of a FCS team that has a strong non-conf schedule.

Would you rather your team play UST or another cupcake on the road?  Home games equal revenue and while it's not ideal if your people don't show up, it's better than going on the road.

Exactly.  The only teams running a gauntlet in the FCS are garbage teams from poverty programs that need the revenue (See EIU playing Minnesota, SDSU, Ill St).

A valid concen.  I hope LIU has a great year although KU

put up  70 on them.  I hope UND has a great year too with some surprise performances.

exactly....what would build/grow/get money more for UND...this home game with all the minus stated above or a road game versus Kansas or Colorado State and get paid 1 milly and maybe get a win too???

The risk of playing more than one FBS money game in a season is that you are likely to have more injuries, as your opponent will have more size, speed and overall depth. The money isn't worth being a M.A.S.H. unit once the conference schedule begins.
