TwamleyShuffle Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Important quote from Herald article Denny Sanford Premier Center does not allow event re-entry for fans, so it is not possible to leave the arena between Thursday's games. 2 Quote

brianvf Posted 14 hours ago Author Posted 14 hours ago https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-practice-journal-fighting-hawks-skate-in-denny-sanford-premier-center Quote "Practice was good today," Jackson said. "Guys were sharp, guys were in great spirits. It was fun, good energy. That's where you want the guys to be — in that sweet spot between being on edge and ready to go and not too overdone. They were at a good level, where they were sharp and making plays and executing well." Quote Players privately said the arena had a reputation for poor ice conditions. Wednesday's practice did nothing to change their opinions. UND players left the surface on Wednesday afternoon, saying it was not in great condition, and they were particularly worried about playing the second game on the sheet Thursday night. The one bright spot: It was 77 degrees Wednesday afternoon in Sioux Falls. Thursday's high is 52. Quote

TwamleyShuffle Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago ‘‘Twas the night before regionals, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. Anticipations were high, to return to glory once seen, felt the folks of the mighty kelly green. sorry that’s all I got. Buckle up everyone, the playoff season starts tomorrow. It’s been a fun journey so far, hoping our team makes some good memories this weekend and beyond 4 Quote

They turned the ac on in the building and some areas of the ice never froze after zamming. Long waits for games to resume. If I remember correctly the goofs lost because the puck stuck against the wall behind the net and their defenseman over skated it Quote

Have skated on it in previous years and it was pretty good those years. It was a little softer than the youth rinks that are always freezing but I felt the same about the Ralph's ice compared to the Olympic sheet or Blue Line Club Arena. But they also did have the ice out for like 3 weeks from SDHSAA wrestling and Summit league tournaments. But the stampede has played on it since then so should've been plenty of time. Some years they have kept the ice under the floor for these tournaments this year I am pretty sure they took it out instead of covering it. Not sure if they did that knowing they needed to change logos to NCAA and just accepted to completely replace instead of shaving down to logo level. 2 Quote

Scheels has a geothermal system which is not ideal for hockey playing in warmer temp months and lots of bodies in the building. Last year the Gophers-UMASS game after the Mankato and Western game was a slush fest. I'm not sure what kind of ice plant system the Denny center has down in Sioux Falls, but if its 77 degrees outside and you don't have your HVAC figured out it makes for a terrible surface. 2 Quote

Makes a guy wonder why they'd ever be chosen(again) as a host for an NCAA tournament if they can't maintain acceptable ice conditions. Warm temperatures at the end of March isn't that rare in Sioux Falls 2 Quote
burd Posted 21 minutes ago Posted 21 minutes ago Looks like cool game-time temps today, which should minimize ice problems 1 Quote
Sweethockey Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago The 1st time we hosted in Sioux Falls they kept the entire arena at 53 degrees. It felt like a January game in Roseau. I distinctly remember a woman holding up a sign saying “Where’s UND?” I was so happy when they got smoked by Air Force. Quote
