Turn the page.  The portal giveth and the portal taketh away.

QB competition has to be wide open going into spring.  Jerry and the offense just disappeared at the end of the year, and thats how the obituary on the 2025 season should read.

Schmidt got to the playoffs and got them into the 2nd round, but I'd bet many would argue that they were a better team in September than November.  Im happy with how we came along defensively, even with the number of injuries we saw.

Lets get better now.

Any thoughts on Schmidt wearing two hats again? Can't complain about the defense performance but HC things need some squinty eye scrutiny...  disciss

Bigger issues than that.

HC supervises OC, OC not impressive, ergo HC not on top of that issue.

HC fires inept OC.

HC hires more competent replacement OC.

Problem (somewhat) solved.

Still need to keep recruiting and improving the talent, especially outside (receiver) and always always quarterback.

Transfer portal time …

Schmidt post game says need to have new receivers who can get open. Well, it doesn't matter if they're open or not, Jerry's accuracy wouldn't find them the last 5 games. I know he's got to support his #1 QB, but receivers are not the biggest part of the problem, it's play selection, not telegraphing your throws, and putting the ball where the receiver can get it.

I agree, and both problems (QB play, offensive game planning and play calling) are bundled up into the responsibilities of one person …

Bring in a QB to compete, JTJ back? Young guys improving? Definitely need competition, Jerry's regression is super concerning...and an OC.....also, I'm tired of being disappointed by Dennis, he drops passes or just gets absolutely rocked any time he catches it, I just can't stand it.  OC seemed to call a better game with a lesser QB.  Noticed we've been tossing out bunch of DB transfer offers  hopefully we hit on a couple of those.

From what little that I've seen of him, JTJ isn't an accurate passer.  Need a QB who can pass.  That has been painfully apparent since late in the season.  Maybe Jerry can get back to where he was earlier this season.  I think that he's been playing hurt since the USD game, which is where the regression began.  Maybe at some point we'll find out for sure.

if we didn't have the stitcher we would've had two home games...and we might still be playing...start there.

10 years of special teams being really special....

start there..then Ike...

stitcher needs to go five years ago

You mean QB can’t make a pass

11-28 112 2 INT

...and this was in a lose and go home game. Not an early October Friday night HS game in Larimore.

No development. No progression. Pure regression. And Coach said it best; the offense lost its mojo and unpredictability; it become way too predictable and couldn’t consistently distribute the ball to all eligibles on the field in the pass game (including TEs and RBs).

Offensive coaching is the reason the opportunity was missed …

Unless gobc steps up we loose Rucker to Iowa st

msybe we can keep Deng

If Rucker leaves, I won’t blame him. Gave us 3 years of production and now is going to get a bag.

Deng on the other hand, I don’t think he’s ready.

Anyone can find Schmidt's post game comments on YouTube.

As to losing the identity he meant the running game and how that redressed over the season. Sawyer also said that in the last few game they couldn't get 6 yards running on first downs.

A lot of regression with the offense late in the year. Play calling, QB play, OL effectiveness.  It all contributed to the downturn.

Sure, but just in case:

As for what he meant, I think it is pretty clear what he meant. No secret interpretation needed. Running game failed. Unpredictability failed. Ability to consistently distribute the ball failed.

The offense failed.

I interrupt this thread to note that the team south of GF lost a game in which the other team’s QB tossed 5 INTs,

We now return to our regularly scheduled ranting.
