I don't think Mr. Schmidt will be in Grand Forks very long. And by that I mean....that is a good problem to have. I don't see UND having a problem with SDSU with or without their starting QB and I'm thinking a semifinal appearance come playoff time. The defense is nasty and any rankings coming out that have them outside the Top 10 is flat out dumb. Yeah there's 4 losses....but good grief, only one real "turd" if you can even call it that. I'm not gonna be surprised if there's another meeting in Fargo this year. I don't think NDSU's coach will be around much longer either. If there is another meeting this season I don’t think it will be quite as close as this one was. Quote

What I mean is that a quarterfinal game appearance would show growth, which is a reasonable/attainable goal. If we get to the quarterfinal game, heck yeah, let's evaluate a new reasonable/attainable goal, which may be Nashville. 1 Quote

Defense played a monster game, we aren't holding them to 15 again in the Fargodome. NDSU is the better overall team, but we had a chance for the upset and blew it. If we played them in the Fargodome in the playoffs, I dont think its as close as last Saturday. That said, we have proven we can play well on the road under Schmidt, so not saying we couldnt win, but I sure wouldn't be betting on it. Quote
gfhockey Posted 54 minutes ago Posted 54 minutes ago Does anyone have a replay of the penalty of the forward pass that went backwards? Quote

You may wish to look where the laces were on KO’s. (Our kicker placed the ball on the tee with laces facing him). The missed FG had nothing to do with the laces, he just jerked it left. Kicking laces may cost distance on longer kicks, but aren’t an issue from that close. Virtually every fan is frustrated with the bizarre play calling in key situations. Most fans are frustrated with our QB play the last 2 games. Most fans are frustrated with our FG/kicking struggles. Most fans with a FB IQ above that of a cabbage see those issues, (not the holder on FG’s) as the key areas we need to fix if we are going to win out. We can make a run this year but we need to win the last 2. Excellent analysis - however I'm not confident about any course corrections - our OC has not learned a thing throughout the season - if anything he's gotten worse. I don't see the lightbulb in his head going on anytime soon - and if our HC was going to change anything there it would have been done by now. A new OC is the only solution. Jerry has also regressed this season - not sure why or what the solution is. We are stuck with our kicking personnel and just have to hope for the best. I honestly thought one thing that would improve from Bubba's regime would be in-game play calling and management - but I was wrong. We pissed away 3 games against tough opponents that we should have won. We have fantastic defense - definitely an upgrade in both personnel and schemes from last year. Time for our HC to earn his paycheck and make some tough changes. We should be able to win the last two if we don't shoot ourselves in the foot again. 1 Quote

Depending on how rest of the year goes, there could be a couple of coaching changes in the off season. There won't be any though mid-season. I get the frustration of a few who said the OC should be gone by Monday, zero chance that was gonna happen or even during the rest of the season. Quote
Kab Posted 25 minutes ago Posted 25 minutes ago Look at NDSU non conference schedule compared to UND if UND had that schedule I think there would be 2 more wins, they end up with St. Thomas in 2 weeks. i like our schedule so hopefully it doesn’t bite UND in the ass come playoff picking time Quote
