Plus 2 of our known targets have already said they won’t be committing right away, and there are rumors about a third doing the same. So no one needs to hit the panic button tomorrow.  :)

So Alex Bump just entered the portal per Schloss.  When do they announce him as a new UND committ

In the spirit of continuing to poke in good fun at @stoneySIOUX and @AJS ... and now @SpudsSioux ... today is their Christmas Eve!

They leave Krampade out by the fireplace tonight! :D

Queue @gfhockey... I don't think we want him ;).

Smells like Minnesota, but apparently he wants to stay out east. We'll see

What year would these kids be eligible to come in? Tier wise, how high level are these guys? Potential draft rounds?

If they don't accelerate, two years. All of these players would be going into their Junior years. The rumor is that Hensler has accelerated. To be consistent, here are the Puckpreps rankings for those players (by Birth Year / American).

  • Hensler - 4th
  • Laurila - NR
  • Potter - 1st
  • Mooney - 2nd
  • O'Neill - 33rd
  • Lindberg - 86th

Holy eff, I didn't realize Potter was rated that highly!

Hensler and Laurila are both accelerating so could come in as early as 2024. Hensler seems like a lock to come in 2024 to wherever he commits. Laurila likely plays a year of juniors. I think those are the only two eligible for 2024 Draft. Laurila is very very young for the draft (makes the cut-off by about 2 weeks) so he's got his work cut out of for him to move up. Will need to have a big season on the 18s. Hensler seems like a top 10 lock at this point.

Fleece and Morin both considered potential 1st round picks as well and will be 2025 prospects.

Edit: Hensler is 2025 eligible for draft, not 2024. Thanks @siouxforce19

Isn’t Hensler a 2025 draft eligible?

Yup, you're right. I was thinking he was September as well, but he's October. So Laurila is the only one in that group that's 2024 eligible I think.

He’s so good. I’ve him play multiple times. He has to be the best 07 in the country.

Dang, that VT Twitter account must feel sheepish. ;)
I thought a player couldn’t enter the transfer portal after a certain date?

Timing would work out for a MN commitment for sure, Motzko I’m guessing would be feeling a bit stressed after the late Cooley signing and needing to add some skill (and numbers) up front.

Bump to Minnesota would make a lot of sense.  Then a CHN story about tampering in the portal right?

Only if MSU or UND is involved. ;)

Coaching change and scholarship reduction are the reasons allowed outside the normal window.

There it is.  Forgot that they just fired their coach.

I've heard he's super quick on his skates.  Would be great to continue to progress back to the "speed kills" UND days.
I haven't been able to find anywhere that lists his narrowed down college choices.  As @ChadR asked above...I wonder if Berry can seal the deal with him and/or Hensler...those high end blue chippahs have eluded us since Sanderson.

Gopher fans already have Bump penciled into their top line for next season.  :)
His USHL stats certainly don't jump off the page, but with only 12 forwards on their roster, they need to add some players ASAP.

Potter I do not believe is considering UND, though I haven’t seen all the schools he’s considering- it’s believed BU is the favorite.

Question:   Now that we pretty much know what the lineup card will look like most nights this year, absent injuries and scratches (and a last minute Gretzky-like addition), which past Sioux team will look the most like this year's team?  In January, not October.

So I can get a preview on the memories thread.  Panzer era too much to hope for?

A perfect mix between the Hrkac Circus, DOT, Pony Express & CBS team

OK.  So who fills the Hrkac, Toews, Oshie, and, especially, Trupp roles?

I'd guess Gaber, Blake, Perron, and James.
Although that's a really tough matchup since Gaber doesn't have the hands of Hrkac and I don't think Perron is gonna lay anyone out like Oshie could.  ;)

I'd sure be delighted to get a Trupp.
