This probably belongs in the memories thread, but have any of you tossed a hat trick hat on the ice at the Ralph?  Or had the chance but didn’t?

I seem to remember reading that if you put ID on your hat you can pick it up in lost and found after the game.

I have, for one of the best goal scorer's UND ever had. Drake Caggiula vs St. Cloud. It was a WCHA hat with all the teams on it............... I had a spare!

Was Spoons a Brad Berry recruit or did he commit after the coaching change?

Both kind of. Berry was recruiting him but he committed under Dane.

He probably didn't have to do much concealing to get past those gates. Things were much different back then and there!  That's my recollection anyway.

I think Ralph I was called the winter sports building, wasn’t it?    I was a student in the first several years there, and security was pretty tight when it came to dead gophers and badgers, though the busts usually happened down by the glass in the student section.   The old barn, on the other hand, was pretty wide open, partly because everyone wore full parkas that were good for hiding wine skins and dead animals.  Wine skins were passed around the student end constantly.  I may be mistaken on Ralph I being called the Winter Sports Building.

A live chicken though . . . that’s art.

Army surplus long overcoat, belted. The belt over the chicken’s neck. I probably choked him out but he stood right up once on the ice. Refs couldn’t corral the bird but Denny G took care of the situation.

Currently in #3 spot in the NPI, just ahead of Western Michigan.  Miami drops to #22, just behind St Clown.

The combinations of either
points earned by UND and/or not earned by other team
that gets UND an outright Penrose (and home league playoff games),
call it "magic number" by opponent:

DU 11
WMU 12 <-- huge series; a single UND win is 3 pts and 3 not earned by WMU
UMD -1
Miami 1
SCSU -3
ASU -4
CC -3
UNO -5

A minus value means they can't pass UND. Only three positive values assures UND first round home ice.

Magic Number = 73 - (UND pts) - (pts not earned by other team)

Why 73? 24 games = 72 pts available. Using 73 is outright, no standings ties

After Saturday

DU 8

WMU 9

Miami -5

Top three secured

How does the NCHC tournament work this year? I know top seed gets home ice; are the semis and finals the same weekend?

9th team misses out, semis 14th, finals 21st

Really impressed with Tyler Young. Since he came into the lineup, he's given it his all every shift.

Zakreski's going to need a spot in the line-up once he's ready, but then again, it's tough to change what's already working for a team; unless the staff decides to go 7 forwards to accommodate him. Tough decisions, because there's no dead weight with the current top-12 F.
