brianvf Posted October 27 Posted October 27 Tyler Young gets his chance: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/tyler-young-provides-a-spark-in-his-und-debut Quote When Young got the call Saturday to go into UND's lineup for the first time, he had a good feeling. The Fighting Hawks were back in Cheel Arena to take on Clarkson. "I think there was a comfortability there," Young said. "The guys, all week, were telling me, 'When you get your chance, you're going to perform.' That helps with the confidence." Young stepped in and made an instant impact, playing on the fourth line with center David Klee and left winger Anthony Menghini. Although they didn't end up on the scoresheet, they combined for 18 offense-generating plays and head coach Dane Jackson rolled all four lines until the end of the game. 2 Quote
siouxfaninseattle Posted October 29 Posted October 29 So has Klee played himself into a regular spot in the lineup? He was 9-8 on faceoffs, had an assist and had several good looks from the slot. Quote

Tough call! I think this team needs Kernan and Littler in the lineup and producing to be successful. 1 Quote

The great thing about depth is that from week to week it is performance and effort based. 1 Quote

The coaches get to see both. Quote

That's really too bad, he's been very consistent...all you can ask of a FR. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-forward-josh-zakreski-out-longterm-with-lower-body-injury Quote Zakreski suffered a lower-body injury during the final drill of practice Thursday in Ralph Engelstad Arena. Zakreski will be out "longterm," UND head coach Dane Jackson confirmed to the Herald. There's no exact timeline on Zakreski's recovery yet, but it is expected to take months. Zakreski was helped off the ice by his teammates without putting weight on one leg. Quote He's also been one of UND's top penalty killers. Only sophomore Cody Croal has been on the ice more in shorthanded situations among UND's forwards this season. Zakreski and freshman center Ollie Josephson are tied as UND's leading shot blockers among forwards with five. Heal up quickly and fully, Josh! 1 Quote

Given how fast they ruled him out for months, getting him back at some point this year would be a win. It sounds like a broken leg/ankle. I’m far from a doctor so I don’t know how long that recovery would be. He is a good young player. Wishing him a speedy recovery. 1 Quote

It would be if they hold him out for the rest of the season (less than 30% of games played). I imagine that if recovery goes ok and he can play by end of Dec/Jan, that they'll get him back in the lineup. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted Friday at 03:14 PM Posted Friday at 03:14 PM Given "months", and this sounds cruel, but I hope it's bone and not soft tissue. Bones heal; soft tissue adds rehab. 3 Quote

beastandco Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Zakreski underwent surgery yesterday on his lower body injury. He is expected to be out a couple of months. Given that he hasn’t been ruled out for the season, I would guess it’s a broken bone and he’s back after Christmas. Wishing him a speedy recovery. He’s going to be a big part of this team at some point in the future. 1 Quote
brianvf Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Zakreski had surgery yesterday on his injury, expected to be out "a couple months". Hopefully back for the January series. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-forward-josh-zakreski-undergoes-surgery-following-injury Quote UND forward Josh Zakreski had successful surgery Tuesday after suffering a lower-body injury in practice last week. Fighting Hawks coach Dane Jackson is expecting Zakreski's absence to last a couple of months. "Obviously, we're all pulling for him, but he's going to have a lengthy rehab," Jackson said. "We know he'll work hard at it. It's going to be a while, but he's going to have a good attitude and he'll have all the best care." Quote
atxsioux Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Thing to note for the future Hockey Canada will be bringing their final roster selections to a training camp that starts Friday 12/12. (UND plays Omaha 12/12 and 12/13) So definitely a chance that Verhoeff and Reschny could be gone for the Omaha series at home if they are selected. https://www.sportsnet.ca/world-juniors/article/hockey-canada-makes-major-changes-to-world-junior-camp/ Quote
Popular Post RedFrog Posted 14 hours ago Popular Post Posted 14 hours ago I need to give a shout out to Strinden for his play since the Saturday night debacle against the Gophers. In the 4 games since he has 2 goals, 4 assists and is a +6. Being one who was calling for him to be sat to send a message, he has responded admirably. I never doubted that it he would bounce back and be a key contributor to this team, and this team needs him to be. Now we need to find a way to get Menghini going ... no points yet this season and did get scratched the Friday game at Clarkson. 5 Quote
