Probably because Michigan would require that all games be held in MI, there's no way that they would return the favor and come to ND.

Yet they agree to a series in St. Cloud....

That'd be my thought as well.
We just have to hope that a couple of their studs aren't committed yet.  Seems that most of them have already picked their eastern NCAA team by the time they play UND.

The U17 team this year (soon to be U18 team) has several uncommitted players because they won’t be eligible to commit until August 1, so there could be some uncommitted. Or they could just commit in August.

This has to change.

Most of the NTDP commit before they ever play their exhibitions against NCAA teams. You need to be recruiting these guys HARD & consistent throughout their minor hockey careers, developing solid relationships with their minor hockey coaches. With Chyzyk being extremely familiar with the player pool & likely having solid relationships with minor hockey coaches (as well as high school coaches in Minnesota), the high end player recruiting woes should diminish a bit. Of course, getting players who are from east of Lake Michigan will always be tough: these guys will always prefer Michigan, Michigan State, Boston University, Boston College, and others out east.

Why do we treat st Thomas like Bemidji and do home and homes ugh

It's because they previously had a contract for 2 series, 1 at St Thomas and 1 at REA. Then they joined the NCHC. So they amended the contract. Not going to be a yearly thing.

We need to get our swagger back as a program. That means not conceding potential recruits to anyone without a fight.

I've never been a fan of the NTDP games.  Its cool to watch that team play when they are at the world championships, or playing against other schools, but it always seems like a go through the motions type of game for UND against a team of kids that commit to Big Ten or Hockey East schools.

I'd rather see them make Bemidji an exhibition each season.  Play them once early in the season every year, rotate it back and forth.

It’s pointless to complain about the schedule. Brad Berry was most likely the final say in these current non con matchups. Hopefully Jackson has a different mindset but we won’t know until some matchups start to get setup.

The BSU series drives me nuts. High risk, no reward.

Every home game is a recruiting opportunity in the portal world; Driscoll was a good find (before our dependence on portal goalies). Too bad Berry couldn't pull Pohlkamp.

+1000

I was frustrated that they signed a new multi-year agreement on that BSU series.

We will. The thing I’m noticing is that chyzk is bringing in older players that are big, can skate and are tough guys to play  against. That can win you some games. Some on this forum think every commit “is the next coming”. I definitely have slight concerns on who’s going to put the puck in the net…but I do see a scenario where this strategy will win you games in the short run. Thinking through it, next year probably has to be an above avg year given what the fan base has been watching the past few years.

At some point, UND will have to learn from these lesser teams & overcome them if they want to go deep in the playoffs in any given year. Because if it's not BSU, there'll always be a Canisius or RMU kind of team on the schedule who can equally ruin UND's year like BSU can. Have a Spartan-like attitude with whomever they play. I trust that Jackson will have the team better prepared & motivated against BSU in the future.

Plus, if you’re one of the top two seeds in the NCAA you’ll still have to get past a mid-pairwise team in one shot.

Would have settled for not pushing him away.

Next year's team as it's currently being structured reminds me of Mankato last year: heavy, physical & older. Which yes, this experience should win them some more games. But to put UND over the top, they could use an elite F from the CHL who can give them 40+ points to make them a legitimate contender, instead of just relying on scoring by committee.

Thats what I was thinking too, or a high high end portal transfer. It’s tough to sell though, they’ll want to know who they’re going to play with.

WMU didn't have any problem building a national championship roster in the portal.

We need to stop assuming that we can't reel in top talent. Like I said before, we need to get our swagger back as a program. It's time to reassert ourselves.
