No Perron, Emery or Montgomery. 5th is questionable.

Swap out gravity beds for hyperbaric beds at this point.

I feel a bit better that the excuse for not making the NCAAs for the 2024/25 season can shift to injuries. Never felt right blaming it on a young d-core.

Makes that hit that Monty took against denver more maddening...still don't know how that wasn't at least a 2 for elbowing..should have been a 5

That's because it was Golden Boy Buium that did it...Perunovich for UMD use to get away with all kinds of crap like that.

Zmolek (lower body) and Johnson (lower) are out for the season. Perron (lower), Emery (lower) and Montgomery (upper) are week-to-week.

Forward Louis Jamernik V also is day-to-day and questionable for the weekend.

"I think there's a high probability he'll be playing," Berry said about Jamernik.

Twelve UND players have missed a combined 110 games due to injury this season. Emery will be the 13th.

110 games missed due to injury.  That's insane.

On Brad's weekly podcast this week, they commented about this.
They said that Western has had only 4 total games missed due to injury this season...compared to UND's 110 games missed.

Certainly not an excuse for some of the losses this year, but I bet UND is near the top of the NCAA for games missed for injuries.

Of those 110 games missed, how many were of those who were actually key players? Subtract Komzak's, Montgomery's, Johnson's, Kunz's missed games from the 110 total & you have a more realistic picture of games missed of players who really mattered.

From what I would consider key players:

Zmolek - 30 games
Berg - 12 games
Jamernik - 8 games (not as 'key' of a player now, but when he got injured he was our top scorer and now he hasn't scored since)
Strathmann - 8 games
Perron - 5 games
MacDonald - 3 games
Boisvert - 1 game

Those players have 67 combined missed games...and counting unfortunately.

Croal missed some games also.

The headline is of course was sensationalized to be misleading even though it's factually accurate. Zmolek and Montgomery have had broken bodies pretty much the entire time at UND. Neither was going to play a factor in this series...same for Johnson. Perron and Emery out hurts. The 5th not playing is meh. Nice to have him but will be ok without him.

Yes for sure.
Of those five mentioned in the headline, two are out for the season and have been for quite some time.
Agreed on Perron and Emery.

The boys showed that they can skate with -- and beat -- a top team despite these injuries from the Sat DU game.
Can they do it against WMU?  I'd like to see it, despite me not being overly confident after how that WMU/UND series went at the Ralph.
Looking forward to see if that FR line can play as well this weekend as they did last weekend...they won't have as much time/space as what UMD gave them.

Sometimes I think he is setting it up so he can write about how incredible a win would be under those circumstances, or an excuse if they get handled.

I thought UND played better the weekend that Jammer was unavailable. JMHO.

Not extend but Berry could get a pass for this for one more year.

I guess, but why not extend? This run of bad luck has to end sometime! Remember two years ago? Also, incredibly bad luck.

What was UND's bad luck two years ago?  Losing in the Frozen Faceoff again?

One also has to wonder, how bad some of these injuries have been.  Are they nagging, or are they such that they would be out regardless if they could play in a big game situation?  Hockey players like Tkachuk will fight through the nagging injuries if they have to.

There is such a thing as being too precautionary.  Don't know if that is the case or not, but with the situation UND is in, every game should be considered a must win, like in a one and done situation.
