God you're such a city kid. saw a dr on the webs say once that all government funded research given to public and private colleges and university should should be uploaded to the cloud for all other colleges and university's to see how their progress on say "curing disease x" so you aren't overlapping on the basic steps of the finding the cure... if university of north carolina solves 1+1=2....they upload it to the cloud so the university of south carolina that was struggling with that first step in curing "disease x" can then move to 2+2=4 and so forth so so forth.... instead of BILLIONS and BILLIONS being sent out and no one sharing anything and wanting the slap on the back and the patent for curing a certain ailment or disease... if your private and no gov funds....have at it...hoard all you want Quote

If I had my way all research grants would be graded when they finished to see if they accomplished anything. 1 Quote

southpaw Posted Tuesday at 08:23 AM Posted Tuesday at 08:23 AM 9 hours ago, SiouxFan100 said: I can agree about the grading There are a lot more outcomes from University research than just "accomplishing anything." Often times, these are used as opportunities to help students develop the necessary skills to properly conduct research and experiments. That's also why even if Cal Poly has solved 1+1=2, it's still relevant for students in North Dakota to start on something easy to learn how to do more complex things properly. With that built up knowledge, students then either stay to continue research at the University, enter a scientific field themselves to conduct research, or move into a corporate/advisory setting where the knowledge they gained will help with moving research forward. For a student to get to work on a project where they learn the skills, can contribute to a bigger picture project, and potentially get published while still in University is massive for career growth and the field of research, be it medical or cow tipping. 2 Quote

As a % of the total dollars, very little research goes to developing/testing ag pesticides. There’s just such little development in that industry anymore. Quote
