They do this balancing act with their lines at even strength. We clearly don’t have the skill to do that and be able to score, or even get chances with any sort of regularity. Time for a traditional 1-2-3-4. Play the top 2 a ton, 3 gets in there, 4 plays sparingly especially when we are up.

I would love to know our ice time breakdown between the lines. I feel we just roll our lines.

This, in my opinion, is a major concern with this coaching staff and is one of the reasons we have been so poor 5x5. We could load up 1-2 lines but it’s as if the staff is too scared to do it. The depth is good but not high end enough to beat good teams who also have depth

On Schlossman’s podcast this week he was talking about how UND’s depth up and down the lineup is better than most teams, he emphasized the word most when he made that comment which I found odd.

I just am having a hard time understanding the constant desire to make some crazy pass play for the perfect shot, instead of just letting it rip, and go after some gritty goals...this team is not talented enough to pull off some CBS line stuff, yet they seem to try it every play down ice.  We have scored more goals, and looked better, when we just say f..k it, and go to the net hard

This is the opposite mentality of youth and HS hockey.

Depth means nothing unless there is production as well.  Just because you have serviceable players doesn't mean you are a good team.  You just keep rolling mediocre and average players for 4 lines.

I listened very briefly to the UND radio broadcast in the third period and Hennessy and Looker were talking about how good UND was playing but just couldn’t cash in on some great chances.

Yeah before the season it seemed like it would be good. But the balance results in each line equally being unable to create chances haha

Radio after the game and Tim was saying how great they played the first and 2nd period as and berry chimed in saying pretty much the same thing

why didn’t UND win the game then

It’s because they’re both judging the product through the same old, tired lens.

I know it's tough to break-up lines when you have an offensive juggernaut but....

26 22 18

7 9 21

29 14 8

19 15 27

Schmaltz can play a wing.

I'd be ok flipping 21 and 29 here as well but you don't know game to game what compete level you'll get from 29 but he's got goal scoring talent.

This team scored one goal last night...a shorty...so save me the faceoff argument.

I've been with you all year on OMac needs to play center as he is a fish out of water on the wing just don't think having Berg center Kunz and Schmaltz is the answer. Jamernik on that wing makes more sense than Scmaltz. Berg needs to play with more talent and I wouldn't even mind Croal instead of Kunz or maybe even try Wilkie on a wing (I know this isn't going to happen but why not try). I don't have any magic combinations although I think 22 and 18 need to play together with 22 centering.

Stack two lines, checking line and an energy line to eat minutes. We looked so slow against ASU last night

I said it in last week's exhibition, they won but they looked slow and sloppy to me.  Even with a warm up game before heading to ASU, they looked about the same to me yesterday.  By the time this team gets this sorted out, it will be far too late, I'm afraid.

No arguments here. Just top 2 lines need be what I suggested. It surely can't be worse than the combos last night.

3rd goal was a terrible turnover at our own blue line...ASU guy 5 holed TJ, nice play.  4th goal was a great play by their kid in front of our net; just outworked two of our guys for a rebound goal. (of his own shot)

1st goal was pretty much on TJ, for sure. He left half the net wide open.

Miss the Hak; his teams ALWAYS got better in the second half of the season.  And they had a friggin' identity of grit and physicality...i.e. North Dakota hockey.

Yup, for sure. They at least had a chance to win it all pretty much every season.  Now, under Berry got no chance.

The fear of losing their jobs if they ever said anything negative about the UND hockey program.  Those two and Schlossman are the board members of the media division of the UND hockey GOBC.

There was nothing I witnessed last night that will will convince me UND was outmanned, outplayed and outcoached.

We were dominated in the first and a majority of the second. If they played well this team isn’t very good.
