forksandspoons Posted December 9 Posted December 9 I have no affiliation to the 1883 Collective, but I do see right now as a massive opportunity to help Schmidt bring in some FBS transfers with the help of NIL money. You can select the sport where you want your money to go to, and your donation will be matched until December 15th. Can be a one time donation (toward the bottom of the donation page) or membership. I think the last “Lets Help Bubba” campaign on here raised like $12k in just a few days. Let’s help Schmidt! 3 Quote

siouxfan512 Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Question to those with more football knowledge than myself. - Do we have enough talent within the defense to get better results next year with a coach or scheme change? -Do we need to push some of these kids towards the portal and look to back fill through our recruits and portal additions? -It seems like it has been so long since we have had a really strong defense, does this just need to be blown up and re-started? Seemed like we have something with a few of our LBs, D-Line just always seems too small. Safeties seemed to be inexperienced, and while I was pumped for some of the guys we had at CB, we always seem to give guys wayyyy too much cushion (maybe that is a scheme or coaching problem). Quote
AJS Posted December 9 Posted December 9 Not transfer portal but seems like a good spot to also list players with eligibility that are not returning. Based off of social medial. Jamal Dixon - Retire (Injury) Casey Schultz - Retire (Injury) Noah Schaffner 2 Quote

No, we need a complete overhaul on that side. There are some guys I would like to see stay, but we did not have the talent or body types needed. Quote

What changes to needed body types and talents if we abandon the 3 down linemen and use four on defense Quote

Good spot to pick up a few higher level guys buried on depth charts. 1 Quote

Ideally, you can hand pick who stays and who goes. There does need to be an infusion of talent. That being said, what's a realistic # of transfers on that side of the ball? 10? 12? You need your key players that can return to return to have a base. Teiken, Mohr, Erkman, Sutton, Blueitt, ect. Recruiting the portal has not been a strength in recent years. Quote

I hope they are able to heal up and finish college. Quote
