The passes Romfo was making even at the end of the season....the best o line in the world wouldn't help. The QB bar at UND is very low right now. And should be very easy to clear, the pool of candidates is high. I’ve been around long enough to see marked improvement of an athlete year to year. I have no idea if that will happen, nor do I know which of our QB’s might accomplish that(if any). Normally, the younger guys have more room for improvement. Frankly, I no longer care what happened last season. With a new staff, it creates opportunities for players to move up on the depth chart. Will our group of QB’s show marked improvement under new guidance or will we see new names step into the starting role? I may be wrong, but I think we have a number of players capable of making big strides in the off season especially with a new staff that hopefully with regenerate players inner drive to excel. How much bigger and stronger is only one factor. Will our speed and strength results improve significantly over the next 6mos? I would certainly hope so. 4 Quote

Lastly, it depends on how much Romfo improves. Regardless of who the QB is, a lot depends on the oline and the rest of the supporting cast, but I believe we need improvement across the board. Need to attack the transfer portal with an intensity unknown to mankind! This ain’t the 1970s anymore … transfers win games. 1 Quote

forksandspoons Posted December 10 Posted December 10 5-6 FBS transfers on the defensive side and 2-3 on the offensive side. Doesn’t have to be the entire roster like some of you seem to fear, but it does have to be guys that are committed to winning. Quote

It has nothing to do with the 1970’s but you are absolutely correct. The fastest way to correct our deficiencies is the portal. Not a lot of freshman are ready to play. Until we get the transfers on campus the staff and players need to go to work everyday as if these are our guys and we are going to put together a team that will win the conference title next fall, get into the playoffs and see if we can win the whole enchilada. I hope we sign 10-15 portal guys that are either starters or in the 2 deep rotation. 2 Quote

It’s what DeBoer and Schmidt did at Washington when they got there in 2022, and look how that went. Relative to other FCS schools, UND can offer elite opportunities for transfer candidates. Attack the portal. Everyone help our prospects and contact 1883 NIL collective, give what you can. 2 Quote
