A coach's allegiance to either of the two names has nothing to do with his aptitude as a coach. I agree with not calling the coach "Bubs", that's something teammates or friends call each other. Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted Monday at 12:27 AM Posted Monday at 12:27 AM If Bowling Green finds quick success, expect MJ coaches to become a hot commodity. Dallas Ferguson could be one to keep an eye on if Carle never moves to the big show. Quote

Expect to be competing for one and in the conversation at the end of each year, yes. This program isn't anywhere near the second part. I just expect that UND competes for a full 60 minutes. The rest will take care of itself. Quote

Big A HG Posted Monday at 05:54 AM Posted Monday at 05:54 AM Bring Jerry York out of retirement and Red Berenson as his assistant. Gwoz can be goalies coach since Denver always seemed to have good goaltending. 1 Quote

One of the talents I hope the next coach has is being able to motivate players to be better than they are. Someone that is younger. I know it was just a little sarcasm bringing up names like Jerry, Red, and Gino because they were proven commodities and had lots of success. Who would be on search committee? I hope they are vetted. 1 Quote

And if that relationship is as tight as you suggest, then that is how you drive a program into the ground for the next 5-10 years. She in no way should have that much control over a position that has that much impact on the team; especially if she has a close connection to that person, because that renders her incapable of making a rational, impartial decision. Btw, how do you know that she & Berry are buddy-buddy? I'm far removed from GF & I don't know the intricacies of UND athletics. She has threatened it before. I don't remember specifics (getting old) but when Kennedy was here, he wanted the Betty to utilize the new logo (I know it's not popular) on center court for branding purposes and to help the University move forward with the new nickname (from a marketing standpoint, it is 100% factual). She ran to the press to make it seem like he was the bad guy and threatened to donate less money because of it. She's taking a page out of her dad's playbook because he did the same thing. The problem with most of it is that leadership before Kennedy arrived always kicked the can down the road and never wanted to tackle the issue and then finally an adult showed up and tried his darndest to clean it all up. Berry knows that having her on his side is beneficial to him staying and the hockey program getting what they want. Quote
burd Posted Monday at 05:12 PM Posted Monday at 05:12 PM I’m thinking of threatening to turn the shutoff valve to my wallet. The program would go into an immediate tailspin, but the nuclear option might be what’s needed. Team up with gfhockey, and we’d hold the whole university hostage. 1 Quote

He has taken steps each and every year now at CC. He has pretty much flushed out the Haviland era in every way. I see him continuing to move the program forward this year as well. Watching them in every home game and most road games this year, they play with swagger, they play with snarl (as Starman likes to say), and they play with moxie. They’ve gotten bigger yet haven’t sacrificed the speed and skill necessary to compete. I could see Mayotte doing some special things, bringing the program back to national relevance and then eventually moving on to a bigger more high profile program, giving Peter Mannino his shot at a head coaching gig as Mayotte’s replacement. Would UND ever consider going so far outside the box with a guy like Mayotte or Raboin as some have mentioned here? Would Mayotte even have any interest if such an opportunity arose? This idea that CC is some program that is a stepping stone possibly to Nodak is confusing to me. As stated, Mayotte is bringing his program back to prominence and it's not like they lack resources there. Although we are a blue blood, we currently are not a big enough leap up the rung to make him want to jump ship from CC to Nodak. It would be awesome for us if that was in the cards, but it's simply not going to happen. Quote

I am frustrated about the slow maturing of the players. I would like to see more shots from unexpected players, angles, and the creation of garbage in front of net. But my coaching is soccer, including an offer to coach on the Ghana National Men’s team (had I accepted the offer I would have been with the team when they were in the top 8 at the World Cup); and hockey is just a great source of enjoyment since I stepped on UND campus in the early 1970’s. We have very good coaches, with a very young team. Quote
