Simon was 20-30 for 180 and 3 TDs. On face value....not bad. Except he had 59 yards through 3Q. 4Q was garbage time. Total stat padding minutes. Complete nothing burger when it matters in every game.

But let's not give anyone else any playing time -

Great kid, but we need a 6'3 kid that can sling the damn thing into tight coverage and down field.

For someone who has been around football as long as Bubba has, his incompetence as a game manager is just stunning.

We won’t break him of his d2 mindset. He’s stuck in his ways.

Some of the play calls  were just  beyond belief

2nd and 2 and instead of running go for a pass and get sacked

fake punt , why

So many others too

frustrating the way bubba has run the program into  the ground

‘with Chaves help

It's pretty common, basic even, to throw deep on second and short, but you can't take a sack there. This team, especially the defense, is mentally fragile. It was easily predictable that usd would score after the fumble was ruled incomplete and i believe they did just a couple plays later. Defense thought it was getting off the field and was completely broken that they had to stay out there. They were barely a speed bump to the yotes offense after that until they reached 42.

As much as I would like to have seen a different QB this year.. Simon wasn’t even in the top 10 of things that were wrong with this team.  Offense usually did enough.. bubba and the defense were absolutely brutal… when was the last time we had a defense that you thought was even mediocre?

59 passing yards through 3Q’s is the offense doing enough??

Nap by nap. Loss by loss. One more. Believe!

The whole day by day philosophy would mean you are continually getting better, stronger, more resilient, which would mean at some point you could win on the road.
The last two years we played decent early, then imploded the rest of the year, which is the exact opposite of the day by day mantra.

South Dakota seems to be the team that is building like SDSU and looking more the part physically of a program building day by day.  We don’t even look like a team that is building and looking the part of a physically dominant team with dependable depth that looks the part as well.

I will say that the day by day philosophy is pertinent to the resources we our giving the program to be able to compete, and as far as I know that should put us above South Dakota.  Bubba has had ample time to build with the increased resources given to him.

With the next phases of the facilities coming on board, it is time to give someone else an earlier start to building the program into something that is going forward rather than staying stagnant and spinning our wheels.

If either of them care about the state of the program, Chaves and Bubba need to do the right thing for the sake of the program.

This is why this is a rediculous discussion.. I’m not sticking up for Simon… I wanted to see the other guys..

our defense is absolutely brutal.. like really really bad.. we gave up 28.. 24.. 35.. 41.. 35.. to the set of powerhouse teams like Idaho state.. Murray state.. San Diego.. Youngstown.. Indiana state.. we had 21 in the first half on decent play.. our defense was a wet paper bag

The offense did do enough but for me at some point you have to see what you have in younger guys that have more tools.  I give kudos to the offensive staff.  This offense was much better than I expected after getting gutted this off season.  I really think our offensive staff is better.  I can’t help to imagine though a QB with “consistent” accuracy with our running game.  Both would have been so much better.   At times you have to be a threat to convert a 3rd and 8 or 9.  We are not sure if we have that in the bench or not.

Defensively, no matter what our HC looks like next year we need a new staff.  How many years are we going to deal with what we watched today.  And the players are equally responsible.  No fire or heart on that side of the ball.  Some decent young talent but it needs to be coached.

So much for 24 hrs.   It was a long drive back after that game.

Oh I completely agree. Our defense is hot trash. Just thought it might be a little much saying that our offense did enough most of the time.

I think he meant most of the season. With the exception of the top two teams in FCS, the offense has put up plenty of points that a capable defense should not allow more.

Cut the cord a week from Monday

will lose some to the portal if bubba is let go and others will portal if he stays

odds are that the AD doesn’t give a !@#$ about football and won’t do anything

why they hired him after he was let go from eastern Washington is foolish

After the last 4 weeks bubba has to know the game has passed him by.  If he has any remaining pride and love for UND football, as he says he does, he will retire.

In the previous years he could always argue that the team showed promise.. this year the xDSUs really embarrassed us.. if u watched the usd game and didn’t just look at the final score u know that game was a killing.. and we lost to terrible teams on the road.

Listened to the pregame talk show on 96.1.  They interviewed bubba and he said defensively they need to get back to fundamentals on tackling …lol.   Eleven years into coaching and the players just need fundamentals on how to tackle !??   Cmon  !!  What an insult to the previous players/winners at und.  Don’t think the 2001 team needed fundamentals on how to tackle in game 11.  Complete waste of money und is wasting on this guy as a head football coach.   If the team needs to learn the fundamentals on how to tackle  …well …no words.  THAT fundamental staple should not have to be installed into a players psyche and will…. just a given.   But I guess not at und.

Question for Chavez…...can you look in the mirror and truly say ….you made the best decision for und football, und players and und fans ?  Or did you make the best monetary decision?  Easiest decision?
