For as much crap as UMN fans like to poke at UND for hitting the portal for goalies, this has good comedic value.  :D

They picked up Souliere from PSU out of the portal to join Airey as their goalie tandem.
That move pushed out Owen Bartoszkiewicz, who has now entered the portal as well.

As a further twist to this....

Souliere is 25 years old already and will turn 26 years old during the 24/25 season.
And he is Canadian.

:D:whistling:

He went from Minnesota to Youngstown to NAHL and the reason he left was because Motzko didn’t want to have him sit a year as the backup and wanted to get him playing time. So he was suppose to come back, well…..

They have a serious problem though--can't win when it counts, despite all that talent.   There must be a goat curse or something in there somewhere.   That or they just refuse to play a full 60.

Sounds like a team a lot of us around here follow.

Lol. Besides him, I wonder if there are any other college players born in the 1990s?  That is too funny.

Zellers immediately comes to mind with that.  I'm sure could use a year in juniors, as the jump from (essentially) HS to college is quite big...but then he'd be in the same situation as Blake and being pressured to sign after his SO season here at UND.

Potentially…but was Blake did (production wise) was incredible. If Zellers does was Blake did in college I’ll be pumped.

My portal predictions:

- UND won't be "most added from portal" this year (three, maybe four, but Merrimack is four already!)
- the Rink Live spreadsheet will have 300+ names by May

- SHU at 7; ASU and 'mack at 6 each; Omaha at 5; don't foresee UND going above 4 (at 3 now)
- list is at row 308 so easily over 300

Must be a problem from the neck up...

Meh... seems like they have picked up a coupe of question marks. The guy from Wisconsin, the other from Penn State, now Pimoniemi. They are losing a lot though. Wonder what they see in them...

Don't know that Jack Randl seemed like a huge get for them out of Michigan, and that worked out quite well.  When I saw Sam Stange play a few years ago, he seemed like a very good player, but I don't think he fit in with Wisconsin's plans.  He seemed like a hardworking guy, and Omaha has certainly done well in minimizing any talent advantage against them by outworking teams.

I'll bet Hennessy will have fun trying to pronounce that name!

" ... TJ with another big save ... "

" ... TJ had to be and was our best penalty killer tonight."

No worries. ;)

Former UND dman Nate Benoit is transferring to QU to join former UND dman Cooper Moore.
We're like a feeder program for QU to take on our dman projects.  ;)

Moore is from CT; Benoit is from NH; not surprised where they landed (the Q).

Emerson is from NY; thought he'd land better than 'mack. Or maybe that's a tell.

It was never explained why the drafted Benoit was buried behind non-drafted transfer D portals, even when the transfer Ds were missing assignments & not doing as well in the second half of the season. People complain here when higher-ceiling guys don't get the necessary game reps to develop, but in Benoit's case, he was conveniently forgotten behind players who will never see a day in the NHL. Or maybe that applies only to forwards. Favoritism, perhaps? So off to QU he goes, where Pecknold will probably utilize & develop his talents. One man's trash is another man's treasure. Granted I didn't see what the coaches saw, but it seems like he was never given a fair shake; unless someone here who knows more can explain this.

Benoit had the single worst shift I saw this season. Took a bad penalty and missed an assignment resulting in a goal on his delayed call.

A single shift....that's the criteria now?

Obviously he wasn't a "culture" guy.

Do we risk having a liability on the ice hoping he will develop, or do we cut our losses on the Wade Murphys and Harrison Blaisdells of the world? Roster management is very different than it was a few years ago, clearing room for proven commodities is part of the game.

At least Schmaltz had more goals than you this past season.

......and you've followed Albrecht's career?

Long leash is obviously better than a short one at UND.
