Looking for stats related to the number of UND 5 on 5 goals scored by the forwards vs scored by the dmen over past two seasons.

Start here: https://fightinghawks.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/stats

It lists G, SHG, PPG for each guy. Will you get "5x5"? No, but will get "even" (not SHG or PPG).

Another year where half the room will be new to the room.

That's not helpful to "culture".

Culture is a set of norms and processes and standards.

We'll have Miami, Alaska (C), Michigan (A), Mankato, Omaha, Lindenwood, and SHU culture as well as remnants of UND's and whatever flows in with USHL/BCHL guys.

Culture: norms, process, standards. Expectations. All created by leadership. That starts at the top, the coaches.

Berry had some significant distractions last season (friend dies, mother dies, daughter's business). I wonder what were those impacts on operations. Then again, those are past.

Here's hoping for a strong reset top to bottom.

Count me as also hoping for a strong reset top to bottom.

Culture is also part of the process of building a successful team (organization).  How players (workers) treat one another, etc.

Sometimes, when a team isn't getting the results that it should, a reset of people can help reset the culture too.   Perhaps this is also a time for a reset.  In a perfect world, all our incoming players bring with them tools that have worked elsewhere, and that can include aspects of culture that can work at UND too.

For as long as I can remember, great leaders have been part of UND hockey's success.   This is a time for great leaders to step forward.

It will be interesting to see who UND picks as their extra coach.   Would have been nice to get Nick Oliver, but there are plenty of nice options out there.  Does Jason Ulmer get a chance with all the work he has done with UND as a volunteer, or do they go with someone for recruiting?

I'd guess Ulmer or Smaby will be the answer when it comes. St. Clair or Coltyn Sanderson would be the dark horses.

Is Ulmer happy running the academy or does he want more.

Zach Parise on line 1 would be a good option to start getting/attracting large recruits in the MSP & surrounding area. Mold Zpar into a future head coach. This would be a huge marketing boost for the program and school.

I think you’d have better odds at the powerball

Didn't work so great for Wisconsin and Tony Granato.   Not saying he wouldn't be, but sometimes star players don't make good coaches, and many times they have no passion to do so.   A lot of time away from home after you already did it for your whole NHL career isn't always attractive to some.

Don Granato was the better coach.

A few tidbits of info on the numbers:

Quote
  • Komzak will be the first defenseman to wear No. 10 since John Spolar in 1954-55. Only two defensemen have ever worn No. 10.
  • The No. 2 has often been worn by big, tough defenders going back to Bill Steenson in the 1950s. That tradition has been passed through the decades with Craig Ludwig wearing it in the 1980s, Dave Hakstol in the 1990s, Matt Greene in the 2000s and Andrew MacWilliam in the 2010s. It now belongs to Bennett Zmolek, who fits the same mold.
  • Michael Emerson is the first forward to wear No. 24 since captain Chris Porter from 2003-07. They play a similar game, too — speedy wingers with physicality.
  • Half of the newcomers will wear the same number they did last year: Britt, Pyke, Benoit, Perron, Pehrson, Hedquist and Persson.
  • No. 14 has been unused the last two seasons. Berg will be the first player to wear it since Jasper Weatherby in 2020-21.
  • This season's unused numbers will be: 3, 16 and 19. This is the second-straight year that 16 will be unused. Ashton Calder was the last to wear it in 2021-22.

Ya know, lot of big/great hockey players wearing #2 for UND, but I think my favorite #2 of all time was a 5'10, 180 pound Canadian kid who plays with a ton of piss and vinegar and came out of every battle with the puck.
