Along those same lines, how do you recognize those who constantly climb off and back on again? Are there marks on their hands and knees, a look in their eyes; or is it in the words they use? Lastly, is ledgie behavior the same behavior that makes us, as parents, become ugly at our kids' games? Oh, and is there a ledgie hotline or a bar somewhere where we can work through our bouts of ledginess. There is nothing you can do. It is unavoidable. Quote

Will this team learn that they will run into this style of play numerous times leading into and throughout the playoffs and make the necessary adjustments both strategically (coaching) and in level of effort/quality of play (players), or will they be satisfied and chalk it up to CC just having our number this year? Put the black jerseys away for tonight, bring out the greens and play the Sioux Hockey you are capable of. 5 Quote

That's a helluva recruiting and coaching job Who are we thinking on coach of the year at this point? lol sorry…too fun to ignore. Yes Berry really has done great but Mayotte has done better. Quote

Yes Berry really has done great but Mayotte has done better. Now we will see how these coaches respond to a major game-coaching test. The film of those two games will soon, if not already, get some prime time viewing by other staffs, and you can bet other teams will learn from it and try to emulate parts of what CC managed to do. 1 2 Quote

Sweethockey Posted February 19 Posted February 19 I would pick Mayotte hands down. Mayotte had a game plan, his team followed it to tee last weekend. Berry might of had a plan, but you certainly couldn't tell by how discombobulated the defense played. 1 Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 19 Posted February 19 UND had better figure out the "one-four, collapsing box at the blue" trap and fast. Others will see that tape. Personally, they want to do that, dump it and beat the livin' dogsnot out of the retrieving D. 1 Quote

The second sentence is the key. Paging Mr. Johannes. Quote
burd Posted February 19 Posted February 19 MIght be a good thing they ran into this now, rather than a month from now. Johannes' returning will be important, IMO, but they have time to adjust. Quote

InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted February 19 Posted February 19 To the people saying that the tape is out on UND. Are you sure the teams UND will be playing down the stretch have the type of players(See Mberko) or dedication to this style of play? I don't see BU or Michigan dropping into a 1-4 trap no matter how successful it was in a couple series. CC was impressively efficient at it and they seem to have the full team buy in that it's what they will be doing exclusively. Pair that with a ridiculously good goalie and you have a scary team to play in the postseason. I'm telling myself this is just a bad matchup for UND, hopefully this coming weekend proves that out. 1 Quote

And I'm still saying Berry has done a really good job and I still want him as our coach. But Mayotte is easily the NCHC coach of the year. I know you can't really admit that on a public forum but Mayotte has done an incredible job this season in the conference from a coaching standpoint with Berry being number 2. Quote

Alaska tried to do it to us, so did Miami. I definitely believe CC is a good team. I'm also not going to be afraid of CC is we have to play them again. Would I prefer to play them again, no, but I'm not afraid to play them. For 40 minutes on Saturday, this team played very well, but did not bury the puck. We've shown the ability to do so all season. CC is committed to their style of speed and structure, but UND did get to good areas for most of Saturday. Just didn't finish. 1 Quote
brianvf Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Little update on Pehrson injury...no timeline though: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/unds-home-and-road-splits-evident-on-defensive-end Quote Late in the first period, UND defenseman Keaton Pehrson and Colorado College forward Noah Laba raced the length of the ice for a loose puck. Pehrson got inside position on Laba as the two reached the end wall. Laba pushed Pehrson from behind into the boards, leaving the Fighting Hawks senior crumpled on the ice for a few minutes. Referees Stephen Reneau and Sterling Egan called a five-minute major for boarding, but did not give Laba a game misconduct. Pehrson attempted to play a couple of shifts early in the second period, but couldn't manage the injury and missed the last 30 minutes of the game. There was no immediate update on Pehrson's status after the game. Quote

So you heard it from Barry himself they came here to win national championships how can you win a national championship if you’ve only won one game since 2016 in the national playoffs 200 wins means nothing without winning national championships for all you guys who love the 200 Winmark 1 Quote
