When it all comes down to it, it is all about finances, but extending Bubba after a 5-6 season makes you wonder what else is going on.

When we were at Nebraska last year several fans mentioned that the only reason the "sell out" record continues is that several local businesses buy up the tickets. They said if the losing continues that might come to an end. There is obviously a lot of community pressure on those busiensses to continue to buy those tickets and keep the streak alive.

You’re absolutely correct, but the sellout streak is still impressive nonetheless, and those businesses and fans that have helped accomplish the streak are noteworthy and worth recognizing. 
 

Business and fan support of that degree for UND football in Grand Forks is certainly absent. For hockey, maybe, but certainly not football. Could it develop for football? Maybe, with certain changes and openness from UND.

We will all feel much better about this team we love after we beat Western Illinois by 15-20 points.  The real question for everyone on this forum is 5-7 wins a year good enough for UND football?  Quite honestly, if Bubba's teams would win 8-9 games a season and we were a Top 10 FCS team year in and year out, I would be fine.  I'm not ok with 5-7 wins each year at the University of North Dakota.

Actually, I think it is more if the administration demands excellence - fans had nothing to do with renewing a 5-6 coach before his contract was up.

Can't disagree with this at all. Coming off a game in Boise where we just didn't show up or make play, I expected more. There were definitely some positives in the Boise game, not like it was a blow out from the beginning, but it was just more of the same with not being IN the game (at no point did we look like we thought we could win). I'd have expected a big push heading to Brookings. Tough to go into the #1 teams house and come out with a win, but we didn't even put up much of a fight. We looked timid and unprepared. (Can we never use Q as a running QB again please? 4th and short sure, but having him try to run east in west was a bad decision in a long line of bad decisions in that game. SDSU wasn't fooled and even if they were, Q is slower than dirt. I really expected more out of Danny.

Anyway, onward and upward. We should beat up on Western and I'd like to see the team take out some frustrations from the past due games. Don't win, beat them up. Run up the score. Try getting some guys in the game and use the 2nd half to prep for next week, because if you show up flat for one of the biggest games of the year, fans will continue to lose faith. This is still a playoff team, but if a playoff team can't pick of a higher caliber team once in a while, you're not going to do much. NDSU looks primed to pick off, but I can't say I'm confident in UND being up to the task. Hope I'm wrong!

Everyone needs to step it up, especially Tommy! I know there are some that don't like him, but bottom line is if he is starting, he needs to play better than the past two weeks. Danny also needs to give him some opportunities. Lets see some more Elijah Klein, apparently all he does is make circus catches. Maybe we can get that screen game going? I don't know what the answer is, but I'm hoping Danny and Bubba get it dialed in a bit more in the next two weeks. We started off looking like a force to be reckoned with the first two weeks on offense and have dwindled ever since. With a mediocre defense, we can't have a mediocre offense.

And I'm sure the nasty SU fans will want a win more now than ever. They love to throw out how we can't even beat them on down years.

I agree with this. MSU demolished Weber 40-0. I think when those two teams are on.....it is likely nobody will beat them. That said every team has some poor performances and SDSU may have some games where they beat average teams by only 10-15. SDSU was coming off a bye week and a ranked ND team coming in was a big game and they wanted to show us who is boss......and they absolutely did. 

 

We will see how the season plays out. Regardless if those two teams are head and shoulders better.....it was embarrassing getting pummeled like that. They also pummeled a pretty good NDSU team last year in the Championship game though too. I still think we can be a good team, but obviously we have quite a ways to go to get to the top.

There's no guarantees on staying the course or making a change. It's almost like the people making the decisions have a lot more information than fans that goes well beyond public information. Nebraska is literally a perfect example of letting fans have way too much input on coaching decisions.

Their players were superior and mostly starters were seniors. I don’t think we played as well as we should have but we can’t discount SDSU’s elite talent level. Coaching did come into question after the game no doubt

I don’t think anyone is good with 5-7 wins per year. We are just not going to be able to change the fact that bubbas contract is not up for the foreseeable season. We will all be ready to move on by that point but bubba may retire early too. All of us will be pissed if we lose to SU. 
 

the difference between all of us is the pointless pitching between all of the Debbie downers who complain but can’t do anything about it because they have no money to be in influence on the decisions. We clearly see when the team sucks we don’t need you to dwell on it when thinks can’t change at this moment. Quit beating the dead horse we got it YEARS ago!
