Can’t say I disagree with you here. Police clearing the streets immediately following peaceful protests has to be the lesson we take away from all of this. Protest during the agreed upon times, in the agreed upon places and all is well. Outside of those times and places, you will be arrested, period.

Nothing good seems to happen after the sun goes down.

I’ll admit, this is the first time I’ve ever witnessed (on video) someone shoot multiple people and be allowed to walk right by police still carrying the AR.

I don’t care how far from Illinois he is. Point is he was allowed to walk away openly carrying his weapon, right by the police, no questions asked.

If he was black you really think he’d still be alive?

He and others were carrying weapons all night. I could be wrong but I am guessing the police had no idea he had shot someone. It actually looked like he expected to be arrested and was starting to put his hands up and then thought maybe he should have his gun in a position to be able to put it down quickly so he wouldn't get shot and then they tell him to basically get out of the way.

Informative thread on the timeline here.

That was one of the best pieces of journalism ive seen in awhile, still slanted but yeah....

This kid isnt going to get anywhere near premeditated 1st degree murder.....  he walks other than a few minor things. That charge is a nothingburger with a side of fairytale fries, just a public signalling charge to quell unrest....

In fact there are easily a few charges earned by the rioting felonious scum; a couple play stupid games prizes, and I hope an attempted murder charge for the guy thats gunna be jerkin it lefty to his furry porn for the rest of his life.

Did he even get a shot off?  I don't think simply carrying, or even pointing a pistol merits attempted murder.  Felon in possession of a firearm though.

Yep.

Ironically though, that ostensibly minor biased action by the Kenosha PD helps exemplify why people are protesting in the first place.  Yea sure, the police shootings (Floyd, Blake) get the headlines and are used for mass protests, but these incidents don't exist in a vacuum. They are focal-points for the overall rage and anger at the daily $hitty and biased policing.

Law and order is needed.  But people also need confidence in the PDs carrying out these measures.   How we navigate the maze to rectify these two together is the problem.

I mentioned it earlier.

Wisconsin doesn't have a stand your ground.  Everything will likey be predicated on whether he exercised every and all opportunities to retreat before he shot people.

Copy and pasting this comment from the NY Times article.  My thoughts exactly:

I'll be surprised if they can convict Rittenhouse on 1st degree murder. Even the weakest public defender is going to be able to frame the videos as self defense. The kid never attacked first. What's really going to save him, though, is the part at the end where he doesn't shoot the pistol guy. He points the rifle at him, and clearly chooses not to shot, and then pistol guy makes a second attack with his pistol, at which point Rittenhouse shoots his gun arm rather than killing him. He's remarkably calm for a 17 year old being swarmed by a mob. You can paint it as a murderous rampage on twitter, but that's never going to work on a real jury. I actually wonder if the DA didn't overcharge him on purpose, knowing it would both sate the angry internet mob that was gathering, while also giving Rittenhouse an easy path to beat the charges.

The relationship between the black community and the police is severely broken and in a cycle that can’t self correct. Cops in places of high crime/poverty are going to be viewed as the enemy. Adults in those communities will teach their children they are not to be trusted and the police will be a self fulfilling prophecy in those communities because they continue to be high crime areas and cops won’t stop arresting(overpolice, if you view it from the other side) criminals.

If kids grow up thinking cops are the enemy, they can never break the cycle.

Still just counting cases aren't you Grandpa? Or have you come to realize this pandemic leads to other causes of death than "presumed Covid"?

You do not have a mental illness/you have a mental disorder.  Like stupidity there is not vacine for mental disorders.  You may want to try the road to Deimascus

Properly trained and professional police don't pick sides.  It's not an option.  By not doing their job, they helped set the stage for the shooting to occur; especially when you have idiots on both side of the isle running around.

If the police attempted to clear everybody out (curfew was enacted) chances diminish a shooting happens.

Very interesting -  some militia members aren't too impressed with the police either.

Which side are you picking to focus your enforcement efforts on...there worded it better.

And your argument saying police should have cleared everyone out is pathetic and you know it.  Assuming they had enough man power (which thanks to the governor they didn't) police would like nothing more than to clear everyone out and be done with it but their hands are being tied and YOU know it.

You ever see Shutter Island?  Because I highly recommend that you don't underestimate the probability that you are the crazy one and what you perceive to be crazy isn't.

I guess being charged with first degree muder didn't stop you from making that statement.

Is there anything credible to that statement?

It might have been a plastic bag. It might have been nothing.

I guess you will defend fellow cultists to the bitter end.

He's a brainwashed kid.  Adults feeding him the BS and lies should be charged along with him.

Hands tied?  Allocate their focus?

Police certainly had the time and resources to stop, talk and thank those militia guys.  Perhaps instead of thanking them they should've used that time to tell them to GTFO like everybody else.  This isn't difficult.

Would it have prevented the shooting?  Well, the shooter was in the group.  But who knows.

Anyhow, according to that militia member in the video, the police actively tried to use the militia to quell protesters.  Is this also justified in bizarro world?  Thankfully the militia dude wasn't having any of that BS.  Called the police ‘pigs’ at one point.    But who knows if its true.

That's the 2nd shooting, I see that as complete self defense.      It gets more tricky on the first shooting.  Based on what I've seen (I haven't spent too much time looking at it) he stops, faces his attacker and shoots.  That's not a lot for 1st degree murder though.

does the throwing of the molotov cocktail confuse you on what the 5'3" sex offender was trying to do to rittenhouse?

Per Wisconsin law (unless its the Castle Doctrine) if someone is trying to kill you, you need to exercise every avenue of possible escape before using deadly force.  You need to reasonably believe you're in imminent danger with no escape.   2nd shooting, he's all good.  First shooting is where it gets a little more tricky.

why did they choose 1st dm?  probably the thought of someone defending themselves gave em the shivers and decided to throw the kitchen table at him....or....set the bar high like people say on here knowing that he will get off and the spineless DA can keep on playing both sides?

So, Mr. Internet Lawyer.

Would that be your opening statement?

(And I always thought those that represent themselves had a fool for a lawyer.  I guess that can include having a cultist as a lawyer.)

You truly are delusional.  Police haven't been allowed to do their job throughout 90% of these riots because of where they have occured (liberal Democrat cities). If I continually got thrown under the bus like they have I also wouldn't go out of my way to kick out people that share the same goal of stopping the destruction.  Stay in la la land.
