Oxbow6 Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Anything at UND that requires a "committee" always results in this....... 3 Quote
Sioux>Bison Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 No one publicly knows about why Nicohls was relieved of her duties at UW. Some speculate that she may have supported the effort to remove the Cowboys slogan, but publicly she has done nothing but support the effort to use the Cowboys slogan. There are some weird politics in WY and it is even more ultra conservative down here. Cross those in power and you are shown the door..... 1 Quote

Popular Post Shawn-O Posted October 30, 2019 Popular Post Posted October 30, 2019 Uncle Andy and the Oklahoma State guy would be my top two. No to the Missouri S&T guy (Division 2) and no to the other three. I think most of us that care enough to post on this subject here could have done a better job on this committee, frankly. 5 Quote
northernraider Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 We will never know, but would be interesting to know who did not make the final cut. I am surprised that there isn't at least one with some type of North Dakota tie, which seemed to be a major focus early in the process. 2 Quote
northernraider Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 http://blogs.und.edu/und-today/2019/10/meet-the-und-presidential-candidates/ Nichols did oversee the building of a $45 million athletic complex at WYO. 1 Quote

Old Fella Posted October 30, 2019 Posted October 30, 2019 Why is anyone surprised. When was the last time UND or NDSU vetted the applicants and selected 1 who was qualified. That goes double for the NDBHE. 1 Quote
Hawkster Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 I have a feeling Nichols was added to the list for some token diversity appeal. Not that I find anything wrong with her. Quote

UNDBIZ Posted October 31, 2019 Posted October 31, 2019 https://www.grandforksherald.com/opinion/columns/4746654-Jacobs-Bewilderment-in-UND-circles Quote The candidate pool contains several candidates with experience in neighboring states, but the lack of North Dakota ties is especially bewildering. One explanation might be the decision to use an outside search firm rather than a North Dakota firm, as some board members had advocated. Chancellor Hagerott argued for the national firm that found Kennedy and Hagerott himself. A national search is standard procedure in presidential searches, but it works against local candidates because the search firm has a vested interest in advancing its own candidates. There’s remuneration involved. This firm should be blacklisted. 1 1 Quote

Two thoughts after reading this. Jacobs still backhanding Kennedy after cutting WIH . (See the paragraph on the women president, we all know what he is referring to) Would they seriously ask Wynne to reconsider and remove the interim tag? Could that be the best move? Quote

Ah that makes sense, I had actually not put together his Kennedy dig. Wynne would be solid IMO, I just don't know how they handle the financial aspect. Quote

Oxbow6 Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 The GF Herald editorial board suggests the issue with not having a solid list of presidential candidates is because the annual salary of $365K is way too low. Quote

Its obviously not that it's "tough to survive" its the relation to the inequality of thenpay in relation to other presidential positions, as well as the compensation for "good canidates" current and future potential in their current roles. 1 Quote

This individual would live in GRAND FORKS! Not NYC, SF, LA....... $365K in GF would easily put one in the top 5% of wage earners in the city. Just ask gfhockey. Quote
gfhockey Posted November 3, 2019 Posted November 3, 2019 Free house free car expense account meals all paid for I make well over that and I pay for all the above and survive just nicely. Quote
Frozen4sioux Posted November 3, 2019 Author Posted November 3, 2019 Well who doesn't?? But for 365k your asking someone to deal with the walking corpses in the legislature. 1000 bucks a day is not enough to suffer a day in those committees. Although if it was me I'd just form a force field bubble of committees to deal with the committees. Quote
