homer Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 43 minutes ago, HoopsFan03 said: Exactly! The whole argument here is about consistency. Why do some coaches (every other one) that are just as bad and have just as bad of programs get contract extensions while the soccer coach that has an outstanding Title 9 complaint has his contract let expire. I definitely don’t see any potential issues there continued poor management by Chaves and his boys There are some coaches with poor records for sure but show me which ones are sub 30% overall win percentage. Also I believe our soccer coach wasn’t given a 8 year contract out of the gate so he must have been given an extension. I am not arguing for the other coaches. I’m arguing that our AD finally lets someone go and some try to argue it wasn’t because of performance. The teams record was below poor. Now on to the next one. In some of these sports you aren’t buying out a coach with our budget. Quote
zonadub Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Well, let’s see who is the next person up. Chaves is “on the clock”. Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 With Bubba moving on I wonder if it adds a little giddy up (no pun) to the other underperforming coaches 1 Quote
ND-fan Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Women’s sports under Chaves has been disaster we have been close to having winning program since he has entered position of AD. Also all the coaches are his hirings and at volleyball ball on his second hiring.this is not track record to be proud of prior to his coming here we had several championships in volleyball, basketball, and we’re top one or two in soccer. There has been no push by athletic department to improve performance. I have to believe Chaves hasn’t held winning as priority but other performances by players and coaches for the program but bottom line winning is ultimate goal especially at division I level. 1 Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Our basketball teams have shown some good and some bad. Should both finish above 500. Kinda a low bar. The title 9 complaint concerns me - hopefully that gets settled soon. I don’t know the process though. Just not a good look for the University. Quote
90siouxfan Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Refresh my memory, what is the current title 9 complaint about? Quote

SiouxFan100 Posted January 3 Posted January 3 After some underwhelming performances against Omaha for both basketball teams tonight I have moved my needle back to not being happy with our leadership Quote

F'n Hawks Posted January 3 Posted January 3 https://fightinghawks.com/news/2025/1/3/womens-soccer-henrik-sohn-named-head-coach-of-north-dakota-soccer-program.aspx Another internal hire. Have no idea if it’s good or not. Quote
NewUndFan Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Chaves sure doesn't put much effort into his job. Just hire the associate head coach. Same thing he did with Mal and the women's basketball team. She Sat as a assistant coach and played at und. Check check. Win 2 games as interim coach! you are hired! I want his job 3 Quote

I don't believe at all he was the one that got our football coach. Others got Schmidt and Chaves was told who to hire. When he makes decisions there is no effort and he doesn't have the connections he thinks he does. His hires show that. 2 Quote

jjensen Posted January 4 Posted January 4 2 hours ago, HockeyHawk said: If there are indeed the finalists we hired the weakest. Again this is a rumor on from another forum but there’s a lot of people active there that hear things or are involved in Women’s college soccer. And I personally think it’s a really weak group regardless of who was picked. 3 out of the 4 seem to have some possible connection to the program or Chaves too. Sohn was already here. Clarke has/does coach for Legends out in CA where a lot of the CA players on the roster played. Also Clarke had Josh Davis as an assistant some time before he was briefly at UND as an assistant. Weber had some time at EWU, don’t know if there’s an overlap with Chaves though. So it just seems like a real lazy process to me If this was the pool it’s hard to pick a favorite but would have liked to see ether Associate Head Coach get it. Clarke probably 2 or 3 choice, never really seemed to get over 7 wins, so on par or slightly above our current level. Would hope they attempted to get any of the MN D2 schools that have some success but doubt it if this is the finalists. 1 Quote
HockeyHawk Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Sounds like the writing is on the wall for Stevens this Softball season. On a more positive note the additions to the Pollard look great from the outside. Once finished it will be a nice setup in that part of campus. Quote
sioux24/7 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 UND is in position to fire their FB, hockey, MBB and WBB all within one academic calendar. That’s nuts. Quote

That's the result of complacency and rationalizing away mediocrity for years. A total housecleaning is nuts, but also necessary. #firechaves 3 Quote
Green Banner Posted February 8 Posted February 8 UND has become a middle of the pack at best in all sports. All never seem to win big games such as rivalry games or have any playoff success 1 Quote
