Because he may be out of a job if the new hire doesn’t keep him

I’m sure it raise his profile so good for him

He would be without a job if the new hire doesn’t keep him no matter if he took the interim position….

Thankfully @jimdahl figured out the deep state of UND FB was behing the hack job on this site.

Well, it wasn’t Hunter behind this caper, was it?  His pardon doesn’t cover anything after December 1st.

I like Fruechte, he may very well be an up and comer but what exactly has he done to be an exciting hire? A year ago he was just an OC at a middle to bad D2 school. Idk, I’m going to support whoever but not sure I’m sold.

OK who is going to complete a FOIA request for HC responses to UND?

Pretty sure the state changed the rules on what has to be released for that. Maybe finalists only or something? Even then, a decision will be made before any FOIA request is fulfilled.

Was disappointed that no one asked if this decision was from a talk with the AD or if Bubba just gave notice.  How would Bubba know about this new position before he gave notice?

why would a coach take an interim position if he wasn't guaranteed a position ?

Because he's a professional and handling things in the right way. And people notice that.
Here is his quote on it:

Quote

"It's my job now to try to do what I can for however long I'm in this role to help the program be better. We're going to try to do what we can to find the best players and fit for our program. Whether we're here, I'm here or whoever is here, we want to bring the right kids here for the right reason. We have a great culture and foundation built."

SS.com hasn’t endorsed anybody. It would be foolish to endorse a candidate before we even know who applies.

That is an example of why school officials across the country aren’t interested in what is posted on social media. We all have opinions but we all have our preconceived ideas (including myself) of how things should be done.  We don’t have all of the details nor inside info.  The vast majority base our opinions on wins and losses and our personal experiences. We get it right sometimes so we think we may know more than we do.

My opinion is that we thank Bubba for his time and stop bashing him. We all know how the how the program has evolved since 2013, successes/failures.
The most important comments made at the recent press conference included moving the program forward and staying positive. If we don’t want to help be part of the solution, we may be part of the problem.

This forum should be entertaining and at times informative. We shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously.

Sir yes sir, Bill!

The way they announced it was weird. It sounds like a lot of people think that it is more of a long term thing. My mind went there right away before I read the press release

I agree. The players like him. He has a lot of support from former Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Golden Gophers, and I get it, he’s a nice guy. But we need to consider the entire pool, and there will undoubtedly be candidates with more experience and more coaching success that should get the job before Fruechte. I like Fruechte - I hope he stays on staff as a coordinator or position coach, though.

DeBoer did great things at SF and they dismantled UND when he coached against us.  He has also obviously had a lot of success since becoming a HC again.

That said, it was 7 years after UND passed on him before he got another HC job.  Either he didn't apply for other HC jobs or it wasn't as obvious back then as it is looking back that he was going to be so successful.

Definitely a lot of success as head coach of NAIA school for Joe Woodley. He should be considered (strongly) if he applies.

His resume is very similar to Deboer’s a decade ago

There’s a reason he’s been st coach since bubba came back 11 years

like the guys loyalty but a good coach shouldn’t be special teams coach for 11 years at one school

The DeBoer broad brush paints pretty wide on this site.

Hilarious whoever posted the Bubba or DeBoer comments from 2013.........you were all in for Bubba.  Was that just for 3 years or longer?:D

At the risk of sounding heartless...if the players had played better we wouldn't be in this position...so while it's cool that they are behind the guy, I'm not sure their voice matters much.  As I've said before it was apparent to me and others on the defensive side of the ball (and at key positions on offense) that we didn't have enough talent.  It's not a democracy and I'm sure plenty of them will portal out anyway so not sure their opinions mean as much as they think anymore.

NDSU didn't listen to their players...and the wheels didn't exactly fall off the wagon down there...

Add him to the list...similar track to Bolte...more national championships but at a lower level.  And no NCAA coaching experience is a detractor...
