That's not much of a goal.   Geez, I'd expect more even in the first year.   FCS is watered down.   I'd hope for a first round bye or two wins, minimum.

With the addition of the Dakota schools FCS is stronger than it's ever been the last 20 years.

But after the 3 Dakota schools and one Montana school things drop off fast.   There are more Murray State doormats now then there are top FCS programs.

Also, proves quick turnarounds are possible in CFB. No reason to be overly complacent, or justify coaches who go on losing season after season.

You don't play doormats in the playoffs.

So thats irrelevant with your discussion of how far UND "should go" in the playoffs.

Add 200 more Murray States and that does not affect the quality and level of play in the FCS playoffs.

Another stat is after the year 2000, the year they both moved into new facilities,

UND Football and Hockey both have the same number of National Championships.

One sport only has to compete against 60 other teams and has the top facilities and attendance.

By that metric UND hockey has been the bigger failure.

UND hockey has been a monumental failure for 20 years despite all the ass kissing and ornamentation. Unlike football they have absolutely zero excuse.

I am not in charge of hiring.  There is about a 15 year age difference between Bubba and Schmidt but honestly is seems like the gap is bigger.  They are not very similar in my opinion.

Hockey is the “premier sport” on campus and can’t figure it out because of “tradition”. I hope football doesn’t make that same mistake twice.
