jdub27
Per Baukol's twitter, it looks like a couple bench press records were broken during testing: Safety - Javen Butler benched 355 to break Justin Belotti's record Running Back - Kyle Norberg benched 385 to break Shannon Burnell's record Linebacker - Will Ratelle benched 405 to break Ben Leingang's record

Just short of the program record. A new lb one though.

Ben Leingang never played a meaningful down at UND. I hope Norberg learns to play as big as his bench.

With those kinds of measurables and with another season of production he could be looking at getting drafted. He's certainly put in the work! UND-FB-FAN
With those kinds of measurables and with another season of production he could be looking at getting drafted. He's certainly put in the work! He'll definitely get a look. His height might hurt him a bit though. Produce on the field in 2015 and NFL scouts will find him, at least for an undrafted walk-on type opportunity. Regardless of next level opportunities, I expect Ratelle to definitely be the leader of a good UND defense in 2015.

Norberg's twitter lists himself as a linebacker, and Butler played linebacker all last year did he not? I can't really imagine they would move him from safety to linebacker just to move him back to safety the next year, Norberg I could potentially see playing either position though. Thoughts? geaux_sioux
A Baukol tweet made it sound like Disterhaupt squatted 500lbs. Pretty damn good for a former safety.

The depth at the LB position is more established than DB, particularly safety. I could see Javen Butler playing either OLB or safety, but because of the safety depth situation and Butler's familiarity with the defense relative to transfer safeties Arnell and Johnson, Butler may get a shot at safety again. Shawn-O
He's very short for LB in the NFL. He is a monster though. Zach Thomas had a great career in Miami, same size. Hopefully he gets a look.

Depth is a need at RB, Norberg sticks at that position. He isn't very dynamic but if a hole is there he can get some yards. He also might transition into a fullback type, one that can sneak out and catch a ball or two. Butler I believe will be a situational guy used in passing downs to attach the QB. A nickel type that can be played by a safety or LB. Reyes and Johnson at the safeties, Dom, Sweed, Arnell at the backups for safety as it sits now. Spring ball ahead.......we'll know more after that. UND-FB-FAN
pretty insanely comprehensive; thoroughly enjoyed it Very comprehensive and informative. Roster looks real good compared to last year for spring ball. 2015 should be a nice winning season that gets UND football back on the map. Go UND!

sioux24/7
Kind of surprised to see Jake Hansen move to ILB. Can't really see him ever making an impact on the field but seems like a real team player.
Hawkster
F the bison! And we wonder why they yell Sioux S***? I don't like the Bison either, but for one thing, we aren't even playing them in spring football.
geaux_sioux
Doesn't look like the weights were updated on the roster. That's one of the most intriguing things to look at after the winter season.

He's an athlete, probably a better one than anyone would think, I'm sure he'll at least make some plays on special teams.

Can't really see him ever making an impact on the field but seems like a real team player. In line with what I posted last fall during all the QB depth issues, Hanson just isn't a DI quarterback, and Bubba and his staff realized that early on. With that said, he's a heck of a team player and it appears the guys really gravitate towards him being he's a local guy. Unfortunately, I don't think Mr. Hanson will be seeing much, if any, playing time at ILB either. Doesn't mean he isn't an important part of the team, though. Hanson will get a chance and will have to earn every play he gets just like everyone else.
The Sicatoka
I've wondered why Jake Hanson wasn't the holder for the PK. I hate having the first or second QB, or the P, as the holder for fear of them getting run over. When Hanson's eligibility clock was running anyway, he'd have been a perfect candidate. But going to ILB? Don't most QBs that jump sides of the ball end up playing safety?
