Need to amp up the energy and production within the Alerus Center, and everyone is a stakeholder: fans (all ages) in attendance, Alerus Center staff, UND staff, and most importantly, the product on the field. Need to allow enthusiastic fans to be enthusiastic, and grow the product - certainly do not try to suppress the momentum and energy growing with this new era of UND football. This is not a blanket statement, but some in attendance need to be reminded that football and the associated atmosphere is one of volume, energy, and passion. 2 2 Quote

Not arguing your points but - How about they control the easy stuff. Like have a PA system that works. they were screwing around with it before the game to get the ref’s mic working properly. Somehow that broke the PA. When PA came back and was addible - the refs mic didn’t work at all. Junior high stuff 2 1 Quote
Kab Posted Sunday at 11:49 PM Posted Sunday at 11:49 PM The PA system sucks the Betty and the Ralph aren't much better Quote

Need a PA system that functions *AND* a higher-level atmosphere with an energy-provoking tunnel walk and entrance, not either or. 1 1 Quote

wheelsup Posted Monday at 02:09 AM Posted Monday at 02:09 AM Does anyone happen to know if this is one of the assistant AD jobs? I would think that somebody would have football as their primary focus and that would include the game day experience? Might be nice to correspond with them directly. 1 Quote

The focus is simply getting this right. It should all be “easy”, considering this has been a concern for years, not just for this one game. There has been ample time to proof the sound system and develop a contemporary tunnel walk and team entrance, but yet here we are … 1 Quote

Oxbow6 Posted Monday at 03:02 AM Posted Monday at 03:02 AM If you have not seen the Montana St Cats run out clip from Saturday night track it down. Pyrotechnics, mounted horses, music blaring then throw on the backdrop of the mountains. Meanwhile in the Alerus........ 1 1 Quote
CMSioux Posted Monday at 11:29 AM Posted Monday at 11:29 AM We need to shine a light on what is obviously a lack of priority and an inbalance of support. I know we get criticized for comparing any sport to hockey but UND has the resources to support them all. Hockey has The Ralph staff and resources fully focused on them. It shows in the game day atmosphere. Football at The Alerius basically means they open the doors and look for revenue sources from the fans. The football entrance is a prime example, it is actually less than it was a few years ago. Who could defend that? They had a year to create something and obviously no one cared. They have two weeks to address it, history shows they probably won't and if asked would just have excuses. Something is better than nothing which is what we have now. We have top level facilities and a bush league game day experience. 1 Quote

Big Green Posted Monday at 02:02 PM Posted Monday at 02:02 PM It's kind of a chicken or egg thing. A full crown cheering as the team runs out helps with the entrance, but fans need to have a reason to be in their sit before kick off. If you look at all great entrances the crown is full and is yelling a screaming as the team enters. 1/2 the crown is still in the concourse or trying to get into the game when UND is running onto the field. It can’t be that hard to do something similar again. 2 Quote

sioux24/7 Posted Monday at 02:29 PM Posted Monday at 02:29 PM My big thing is nailing the hype video. I know last year there was one video they showed with like 5 mins before the game and that one was very good but the actual one they showed right before the team ran out stunk. 2 Quote

How about the team focuses on the game, the job at hand, and what they're there for. I want to see intensity and focus. If I want to interact with the team I'll watch the "hawk walk" or attend one of the media/ fan events. The team can control the game experience, excitement, and atmosphere by doing their jobs on the field. I don't need or want them glad handing the crowd like a bunch of clowns. Once they're in the building it better be about winning. Period. 7 Quote

hky Posted Monday at 05:01 PM Posted Monday at 05:01 PM It does take way too long to get into the Alerus. Line out into the parking lot is a mix of people with tickets, buying tickets and picking up tickets. Better signage? Separate doors? More metal detectors for sure.Think there were only 2 on Saturday? Line for the other/student side was even longer. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted Monday at 05:08 PM Posted Monday at 05:08 PM They should have a visual scan line where you're dressed such that it's obvious you're not "packing" and you are just waived in. Here @Oxbow6 demonstrates what to wear if you choose the visual scan line. He failed on the shade of green. Quote
