werewolfoflondon Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Should Hakstol change his recruiting philosophy from recruiting guys like Rocco or whoever that only play for two or three years to guys like Union had that stay four years? What really works better? Taking a hotshot for a year or two or a steady player for four? How involved are guys that really do not plan on staying long? Quote
InHeavenThereIsNoBeer Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I'd say a mix of both works the best. 1 Quote
SiouxTupa Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 You need a mix, or you'll only have a good team once or twice every four years. Quote
fightingsioux4life Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 You need both. You need that handful of studs that will stick around 2-3 years at most, but you also need that larger group of guys that stays four years and gets better from year 1 to year 2 and from year 2 to year 3 and so on. And I think Hakstol is starting to do this, so the next couple of years will be interesting. Quote
gfhockey Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Uh oh someone question Hak. I feel sorry for you Wolfe. How dare you question Hak Quote
gfhockey Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I think the last two natty winners prove what a coach needs to recruit. Nerds that play puck. 1 Quote

Oxbow6 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I'd say any recruiting changes that result in a Natty soon I'm all for. 2 Quote
Redneksioux Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Saw dean blais in grand forks this afternoon must be recruiting. Quote

gfhockey Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 What's wrong with winning a natty? I guess i m not sure as we haven't won one in over a 14 years Quote
Ray77 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 Saw dean blais in grand forks this afternoon must be recruiting. I doubt it. He was probably in town for a meeting with gfhockey and the good ol' boys. Quote

scpa0305 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 The expression "natty," dumba**, not an actual "national championship." For crying out loud... Haha...however I use Natty all the time. Much easier from an iphone. Quote
Big A HG Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 If I send one of these in the mail to Hak he will have won a Natty. Then, everyone will be happy that Hak finally got his Natty. Quote
runaroundsioux Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Let's agree to retire the term "natty". Perhaps "NC" would be more appropriate. Or maybe "Holy Grail"? 1 Quote
MafiaMan Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Canadians are foreign players. So are Minnesotans. 2 Quote
cberkas Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Why don't we get more foreign players I've been wondering why the coaching staff doesn't try to recruit European players. Quote
