As stated numerous times but am not believed, UND will be donated a new on campus stadium remodel that will drastically increase revenue and attendance.

Half of FCS teams moving to FBS had major projects to accomplish it.  It's not as unheard of as the board seems to think.

Where the hell are you getting this info?

this ^^^^

now, if that conference was UND, NDSU, Montana, Montana State, Idaho, Idaho State, USD, SDSU and New Mexico State, that would be a nice conference (but NMSU might not be interested in such a northern conference). Maybe Denver for Olympic sports. Wyoming would be nice too, but you won't get them to leave the MWC.

Minus Idaho State; Plus Eastern Washington.

I've been wrong about the timing, but right about the substance all along.

You can never be wrong about the substance as long as you can continually push the timing forward. I suspect that you'll still be saying you where only wrong about the timing when this hasn't happened 10 years from now.

So, you have actual knowledge of who, when, and how much? Or are you just making this up too?

That makes zero sense. The athletic department has a budget deficit and has to make further cuts along with the rest of the school. UND has too many sports and is spread to thin. Regardless of what they do, sports were going to be cut because of the budget issue (and it should have been done probably a decade ago).

A self-respecting president, regardless of division, will give his school the best chance to succeed, which is what Kennedy's stated goal is and why sports are being cut. There are plenty of schools at the FCS level and below that have more status than a ton of FBS schools. Being in makeshift WAC conference with a bunch of schools no one has heard of doesn't automatically earn you more prestige than being in the Big Sky.

A President wouldn't cut sports unless it knows what it knows what a new conference considers important.  Therefore, the cutting can't be a means for Slummit entry, as that would only happen after we moved there.  It's a means for FBS affordability, as Kennedy knows what the WAC wants.

NMSU, Montana, Montana St, Idaho and E Washington aren't exactly no-name schools around here, who will be joining us.

The WAC is a ticket to FBS, which many FCS Presidents are willing to be contortionists for.

The WAC ticket to FBS is useless for GCU, Seattle, Bakersfield, and UVU, so they would jump at a chance to swap with the aforementioned schools.

Me.  As soon as I win the lottery (should be in the next month or 2).  $100 million.

Only a $100 million? After taxes, that's probably not enough.

The funny thing is that you didn't even know about the "WAC ticket" until April, or so, of this year, and yet this thread began in February of 2014. If you were just making stuff up with no actual knowledge of the situation back then, why on earth would anybody believe that you're not just making stuff up now?

UND can cut S&D and softball regardless of whether they are in the Summit or Big Sky and still meet all eligibility requirements. A fourth team, such as men's tennis, can easily be cut with very little issues if UND moved to the Summit since the Big Sky doesn't require it. Women's soccer could be cut if they stay in the Big Sky, though those participation numbers will likely keep it around.

Pretty easy process of elimination to see what is on the chopping block and can be done before any conference affiliation is finalized.

$500 million lottery.  $100 million is the donation.

You win $500m and you only donate $100m ... C'mon man, where's your loyalty?

At any rate, your lottery example does point out just how much wealth it would take for a single donor to "donate a new on-campus stadium remodel."

Very few donors are going to pony up 9-figure donations, no matter what their net worth. I doubt there's a sugar daddy waiting to ride to UND's rescue.

$100 M for the football stadium.  Gotta have another $20 M for the rest of the IPF, $20 M to complete the parking structure on the east side of Columbia, $5 M for the outdoor track and soccer field, $100 M for endowed scholarships, $10 M to put additional permanent seating in the Betty, $30 M for a new business school, and keep around $20 M for myself.  After taxes and the discount for taking the entire lotto in one payout, that's all of the money.  Lotsa mouths to feed.

If NDSU wins another FCS title, then I think they would be on board to move up to FBS and would most likely be in the same bandwagon as UND and the Montana schools to advocate such a jump.  It has to be both a UND/NDSU approach or nothing with this kind of stuff in my mind, but again its all snowflakes and smoke at this point anyways...

Fullerton talked openly about FBS then and there were other signs that some Big Sky schools wanted FBS.  The Montanas didn't seriously flirt with the WAC in 2011 for no reason.  But even they weren't ready yet.  How is that Fullerton didn't have a thread excoriating him for his FBS desires, but someone like me does it, all the bizon trolls do?

UND is openly talking about dropping Big Sky core sports.  That is like spitting in your bosses face week before you even have another job interview.  That is simply stupid, but the Big Sky still publicly wants us.  Jumping conferences is so political, and dropping sports makes it even more so.  Wholesale switching membership among the WAC and BSC is already a done deal, so those rules are thrown out the window.

Yet if UND went FBS with the WAC they would have to wait until 2026, for the CFP to be renegotiated to possibly add the WAC, and that's not gauareteed they would include another FBS conference. The P5 doesn't want to share with the G5 and the G5 doesn't want to have another conference at the table.

Idaho is a no name in the state of Idaho.

The P5 will continue to through crumbs at the G5 or G6.  An FBS will get a much better deal than being FCS.

Interesting that Montana States new AD just sent an email stating that in the next 100 days, MSU will have strategic announcements that will shape MSU's goals for the next five years.  To me it's being a full FBS member in the WAC.

Are they getting an app?

But hes still toeing the FBS dogma. Every school that is making an announcement----has to be about going FBS.

Wow, do you actually think people should give you the same level of respect and deference given to the commissioner of the Big Sky conference on this issue?

BTW - you'd do well to avoid using the phrase "done deal." Your track record on distinguishing deals that were really "done" from deals that were merely figments of your imagination isn't good.
