gfhockey
so what should we do? praise theft to all of children who idolize the und hockey team? praise running away from tabs? I for one is old school. punishment!
smokey the cat
I'm a Sioux hockey fan and a fan of the US constitution...innocent until proven guilty. Except if they play for NDSU.
smokey the cat
It was "FAT,drunk and stupid is no way to go through life." Chyzk is not fat. Quit paraphrasing. Ok just drunk and stupid.
smokey the cat
Maybe he had to use the can really badly...he ran into VD to avoid urinating or pooping in the cab, then was in there for a long time due to a line or a biological issue...who knows. Hak suspends him for a legal run in. Fair enough. Once all details are cleared up and it is proven to be intentional or accidental or a misunderstanding, then Hak will determine his future on the team. Gee maybe if there was a 24/7 convience store downtown he would not have to gone to the VD on Washington. Oh wait there is a 24/7 VD already downtown. So much for that excuse. The Sicatoka
"Innocent until ..." applies in the judicial system. Hakstol sees strike three and should follow through, including digging to the root of the problem besides the suspension.
shep
Shouldn't innocent until proven guilty apply here? Regardless of his record and the fact he plays for UND hockey, he's entitled to that. However if this is true, it's a really stupid way to get in trouble.
Mamba
3rd foul up? In how long? Most recent is theft of $4? Too stupid for words and part of me says, "Ya can't fix stupid." On the other hand a little (or perhaps a whole bunch of) tough love did wonders for Frattin.
gfhockey
if he went to in VD and the cab actually left.....was chyzk gunna walk home in -20 windchills? maybe the arrest was a blessing in disguise as he could have got frostbite ala kristo

Siouxmusic
Sorry traditional Hak haters, this doesn't validate your always constant cries to end his employment. He's made it very clear that if players don't get the message, what the consequences are. They're not 8 years old, they're going to have to take responsibility for their actions at some point. Popular Post brianvf
You have committed the Cardinal Sin of questioning Hakstol's leadership of the program. I think it is fair to ask if Hakstol has control over his players; there have been a lot of incidences of stupidity the past couple of years. I was more poking fun at the poster I quoted who seems to never post unless it is something negative in regards to Hakstol or the team. Just having some fun. That said, I don't see what this issue with Chyzyk has to do with Hakstol "having control of his players". Hakstol has made his point very clear the past few seasons...if a player messes up, there will be consequences. LaDue sat this past weekend over a very minor infraction. Now Chyzyk screws up to a greater extent...and guess what...he's suspended indefinitely. To me, this isn't an issue of Hakstol having control, it's an issue of a player or two screwing up. He can't be expected to babysit these players at all hours of the day. Just my two cents.
Frozen4sioux
To even speculate at this time the exact happenings seems a bit foolish....... But so was eating that dozen spicy garlic wings so here goes.... Points 1) Hak had to take an action. I'd say its appropriate once an "arrest" was made. 2) After 1 AM after a SundayFunday.....after a sweep.....guessing and don't think it's a stretch but ?....maybe alcohol involved?....? 3) theft is theft but WTF. $4 .....you mean that couldn't be worked out one way or another.......and come on GFPD. Was there not some way to figure out a more sensible solution than an arrest booking holding arraigning pleading and now hearings?..........no wonder the judicial system is completely booked ...come on people solve some problems without creating so much waste. Surprised they didn't pull another Bang-Bang and make him stand outside until his ears got frostbite to add to the ordeal. I see the following happening 1) Bryn will sit out and maybe take a look at his decisions and life choices and grow as a man. 2) An amicable solution will be found between the two parties and charges will be dropped.........Zero way a $4 claim is heard at trail......city won't do it.....plaintiff won't do it. 3) Chyzyk will come back for the January series after the B.C. Trip. Not trip to beautiful BC.... An error was made and a party is held responsible with repercussions and a victim will be made whole. At least he didn't ohhhh destroy an initiated measure that cost tens of thousands of dollars to attempt with voter fraud....... .............or """work""""" at BEST BUY. Frozen4sioux
I guess another thought was if it was the good ol days the cabbie woulda taken drunken hockey kid guy to coaches house maybe in exchange for a couple tickets and a puck for his kid. Coach skates the piss and liqur out of the kid for a week and gives him jock cleaning duty for a month and sits him in the press box for a weekend....kid learns through tough love and grit. Sometimes the olden days were a bit simpler.........and we were all better off for it. But again all this speculation ......foolish.
Redneksioux
You can quit defending the undefendable anytime. You are starting to sound like a Bison fan. Undefendable? There is two sides to every story and as an outsider looking in at this one situation.....it's more feasible that there was a miscommunication of some sort. It doesn't make sense that Bryn would attempt to skip out on a $4 cab fare. Like a few other have said though ill trust haks judgement on the suspension. The continued lack of judgement is troubling. And this is being handled nowhere near how it would be this happened to a ndsu football player.

At the time of the latest incident, NDSU was just beginning a playoff quest for a third consecutive title, something only one other team has accomplished in the history of FCS (or 1-AA); Craig Bohl had things to worry about that may or may not have included interviewing for, or at the least auditioning for, jobs at the next level; and Gene Taylor knew the kid had been through enough just by having to shut the party down before enough cups had been sold to pay for the first keg. You can't expect NDSU to suspend a player of that magnitude at this point in their season for a loud party ticket. A meaningless conference game early in the season, maybe. Or if it were a season opener against a really strong BCS team. Sure. But it's PLAYOFFS time and the Fargo PD can write the ticket but they aren't going to derail this perfect season in the making over something so insignificant. And it sure as hell isn't getting in the newspaper.

TBR
Didn't come out or wouldn't come out? This seems to be the essential question. Until it is unambiguously answered there is no way of really knowing how Hak should handle the situation.

Until it is unambiguously answered there is no way of really knowing how Hak should handle the situation. Remember people this is all on tape. With the clerk as an eyewitness. He could have paid his $4 dollars but chose not to. He pleas to petty theft. But since he is on a deferment from his April minor he has another problem. Might be some weekend time coming up. So far what Hak has done is the right thing.

Hawkster
This is totally beyond stupid. When someone told me this yesterday I thought they had the facts wrong, but I guess not. I'm glad to see Hak nip it right now. Three times in 18 months shows he isn't learning and it's time to get a little more drastic.
