bigskyvikes Posted September 24, 2013 Posted September 24, 2013 IMO, no. Each summer REA tends to upgrade some portion of the arena. Some updates over the years: -New hot and cold tubs installed at ice level -New flat screen televisions throughout the building -Sioux Shop was remodeled a few years back and most recently a hat wall/display was added -'Authentics by Reebok' customization -New scoreboard and sound system installed after the fire -Weight/training facility has state-of-the-art equipment and things are added by request -NHL Wall at ice level -New TV in the players lounge -New projection screen in the lobby/main entrance -Photos and various displays are updated yearly (ie: All-Americans, new flags in the concourse honoring top 100 players in history) -New storage building Honestly, REA was ahead of the game in many areas. A lot of the new rinks (and those being renovated) are adding things REA has had since it opened. YEA! What she said.... 2 Quote
Wilbur Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Hockey East 2013-14 PRESEASON COACHES POLL 1. UMass Lowell - 104 points (7 first-place) Boston College - 104 points (4 first-place) 3. New Hampshire - 84 points Notre Dame - 84 points 5. Providence - 79 points 6. Boston University - 67 points 7. Merrimack - 54 points 8. Maine - 45 points 9. Vermont - 34 points 10. Massachusetts - 32 points 11. Northeastern - 28 points I just can't believe BU is picked that low in the league. I know they'll have a new coach in place, but lots of guys returning, especially two pretty good young goaltenders. Providence may be a bit low too.....what do those stupid coaches know anyways? Frozen4sioux Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Dang...I guess the cost of scooters and insurance for the players keeps going up, doesn't it? ...ohhhh the scooter thing ouch....uffda.....too...too soon? Quote
MafiaMan Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Not well.....Some fun facts about their season last year: ~The Pioneers or pios as I like to call them won two hockey games. ~Didn't get their first win of the year until February. ~That win came against......wait for it.....Holy Cross! ~Actually had a three game unbeaten streak after that victory. So I'm guessing more of the same.....no love until some old Bjorkman hater mistakenly inserts them into the greatest upset in NCAA hockey history at a little eatery outside of St. Paul. So you're saying they'll be invited to the Mariucci Classic, right? Quote

geaux_sioux Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I don't think the REA is outdated. The underwater treadmill is a bit outdated. Time to upgrade. Quote

Ouch. Kevin Roy with a hat trick in that Northeastern game. I haven't seen him on any Hobey or All-American watch lists, but I think he will be one of the best players in the country this year. Quote
