watchmaker49
Rocco Grimaldi, Corban Knight, and Danny Kristo are at best "long shots" to play in the NHL? Your definition of long shot must be a lot different than mine. Yeah mine is based in reality.

MavHockey14
Kristo will play in the NHL for sure. Knight, he'll get his chance, but he'll likely have to prove himself in the AHL. Grimaldi? He needs to play at an extremely high level consistently to overcome his size barrier. They all have a pretty good chance at getting in some NHL games, no question. Emerald joker
Caggiula-Tambellini-Rocco Sense I don't know anything about the freshmen coming in a line of Caggiula Grimaldi and Parks could be fun to watch
UNDBIZ
That is hilarious. Rocco will never play in the NHL. Knight? Never. Kristo? Long shot. I'd say Grimaldi has the best shot at making the NHL. His speed and quickness are amazing and he's not afraid to use his low center of gravity and mix it up on the boards. Knight's faceoff skills and all-around play will get him a shot in the NHL. He certainly won't be a top-line Zajac-type guy, but he'll have his chance to center the 3rd line. Kristo improved drastically this year compared to last year, but in my opinion he still has Europe written all over him.
Just Curious
Sense I don't know anything about the freshmen coming in a line of Caggiula Grimaldi and Parks could be fun to watch I don't see Hak and Co. splitting MarkMac and Parks up for too long. Those two played so well together. They both have great speed, good hands, and yet can play that gritty puck-possession along the board game so well. I think you have to move a similar type player in with those two. Grimaldi needs one bigger, tough, cycler winger to play with him and Caggiula. I think Johnson would actually work best with Parks and MarkMac, and Murphy or Tambellini might work with Grimaldi and Caggulia (although Murphy is not a cycler, but his vision and ability to dish the puck could make for an explosive line). It will be interesting to see how the off-seasons goes for allt he current and incoming players. The talent is definitely there for next year, its just a matter of it all coming together better than it did this year.
scpa0305
Yeah mine is based in reality. I think you're a little aggresive and all you are trying to do is "stir the pot"....but what you said is probably true. I think all will get their chance....but they are all long shots to stick. Kristo has the best chance I think. Unless Rocco adds a ton a muscle (ex. Gerbe) he is simply too small to play in the NHL...only time will tell. There have been numerous better players over the years at UND and elsewhere that have never seen the NHL. These guys are good but they are not that good. As UNDBIZ says Kristo has Europe written all over him. If Kristo has Europe written all over him the Knight and Grimaldi are carrying huge signs that say Europe. Sort of the same thing someone else pointed out how Johnny Brodzinski didn't put up great numbers in the USHL, but exploded his first year in college. Don't think many of us know how things are going to translate to the next level, so it will be interesting to see who gets the chance. as15
I think all three player's being discussed, Knight, Kristo, and Grimaldi, have a solid chance at having NHL careers. I know people will disagree with me, and thats fine. A lot of highly talented players coming out of college are missing something in there game that doesn't allow them to succeed at the NHL level. Knight, Kristo, and Grimaldi are all offensive players at the NCAA level, no one can dispute that. Do they need to be in Top-6 roles to be successful at the NHL level? I don't think they do. Kristo and Grimaldi are extremely tenacious forecheckers, if there offensive skills don't translate, they could be very good energy-line wingers. We all know about Knight's faceoff ability and defensive prowess, I really think those things are what will get him paid. Knight is the epitome of what you want in a third line center at the NHL level.

I think everyone is speculating that he will stay at least one more year, he is not ready for the NHL. There is still a lot he can learn at the NCAA level. Just Curious
When Rocco came to UND, he said he would only stay a year. Has he said that he changed his mind? Or is everyone speculating that he will stay? I don't ever remember reading a quote from Grimaldi saying that he would only stay a year. I think when asked to discuss the topic he has implied that he will stay until he feels he is NHL ready and has accomplished everything he wants to at this level. If I am missing something or a specific interview, could you please provide a link??

Oxbow6
If Brock Nelson toiled in the AHL all season then Rocco should definitely stay. You can't teach goal scoring and Brock had that.
SiouxScore
That is hilarious. Rocco will never play in the NHL. Knight? Never. Kristo? Long shot. Rocco will have the toughest task of the 3 to get a shot in the NHL, Knight and Kristo are almost locks to get a lock. Kristo could get a look this season in the NHL if he decides to sign with Montreal pretty quick but regardless I would bet a lot of money that Knight and Kristo both play in the NHL. You must not watch much NHL, look at some of the guys on some rosters currently. Knight is the type of guy who will definitely get a shot as he is great faceoff guy and a great 2 way forward. Kristo is a pure goal scorer with good speed, Casey Wellman played for the Wild and JT Brown got a chance with the Lightning last year and those are just 2 guys who got a shot with some NHL games soon after leaving college. Sooner or later both Knight and Kristo will get a shot in the NHL and you'll be the one looking foolish.

Seen better players in the ECHL who are stuck there for eternity (who also had much better numbers in college at good programs). More like when they do not make it in the NHL you will be looking foolish. Take off the Kelly green shades.

I don't know what you have against Knight and Kristo but you should just stop with this never play in the NHL thing because this argument is making it look like you know nothing about hockey.
