watchmaker49
Got to Argusville and turned around. I29 almost solid ice. I must be getting old... No. You are just being smart.
UNDColorado
As someone pointed out this was indeed a strange game but a win is a win. Need another tomorrow. Roll Tribe!
jodcon
Can I get the lotto numbers for next week? Was pretty close on the score but it sounds like it was a little scarier than I thought it would be. And apparently the refs let it get out of control, hate to see that starting early in the series, that's all we need is somebody thrown out for the Thursday game. Big A HG
Kristo's second goal was a nice greasy one for sure, but that toe drag in traffic to get him the opportunity to shoot it off the goalie was sick.
Big A HG
The Zane vs. Clarke controversy is way more interesting than it needs to be. Zane is a MUCH better goalie and has a chance to be one of the best UND's ever had. But, boy, it's hard to say that with some of the softies he's given up this year. Clarke is good, but his potential is far less than Zane's. We've seen Saunders' best, I don't think we've seen Gothberg's. When Zane is on, he's on top of the crease, he can make hard saves look easy, and he gobbles up way more shots preventing rebounds than a lot of goalies we've had in recent years. If he'd just stop giving up some of those really weak ones, we have a stud in the making. I say we ride Gothberg, especially for tomorrow. If you pull the kid now, I'd hate to see his confidence shattered if we need him in the real playoffs. Scold him for his mistakes, but put him back in and tell him "you're the man, now go win us some games."
AZSIOUX
Dave starman agrees BIG @DaveStarmanCBS: As a side note. Danny Kristo's 2nd goal was as good a play as I have seen all season in any conference. Wow. Skill and will win out.
Emerald joker
Just rewatched the McWilliam hit, cean hard hit, so what we can learn from this is if player gets hit hard and falls and stays on the ground rather he's hurt or not its going to be a penalty. I just hope the Sioux never start laying on the ground just to draw a penalty
Oxbow6
First of all Tech is Tech...even with a less than stellar effort UND got a W. Tech is also the cheapest, dirtiest team I've seen UND play this season. After last nights fiasco I would start Jim, Panz and the General and give one of them the green light to set some type of tone for the rest of the playoffs. If Mac is going to get tossed on a BS call then have someone get tossed legit! IMO the line combos are out of sync. OD doesn't do much on top line. If you watch last night's game again Kristo and Knight basically are a 2 man line. Rocco...who knows?? At this point does it matter his linemates? Kid has missed on more grade A chances than any Sioux player I can remember. He needs one soooooo badly. How Mitch stays in the lineup while Drake sits is beyond me. With the way this team play a system of defense they are going to need to get shots to the net and score. Drake and Bryn IMO are way better offensive options than OD, Mitch and Gaarder even though I like his grittiness. Zane can not, I repeat can not, continue to give up soft goals like last night if this team want to play more than one game in the F5 or NCAA. I expect a different UND team than we saw last night tonight. Will be disappointed though if the lines are the same.

I just hope the Sioux never start laying on the ground just to draw a penalty That's not at all what you learned from that penalty. You learned that a violent hit will usually draw a penalty, even if it's clean. Johnstone got smoked by a good hit and he was hurt. Not many players would have gotten right up after that bomb. yzerman19
If the officials are not going to allow physical hockey plays, they are ruining the game. That hit was not a penalty. I would've been irritated with 2 minutes, I am infuriated about 5 and the gate. To make a 5 minute major call the official should have to actually see the penalty. Since replay shows clearly it was shoulder to shoulder, I don't know what they saw or think they saw. Also, a hit that powerful- if it had been to the head, Johnstone would've been lights out- he was not. A great (by NHL standards) hockey play results in UND essentially playing 4 d with any regular ice time, takes away our captain, takes away our physical presence in our own end, and takes away a key 5x5 and penalty killing player. It changed the tone of the game...that was an absolutely terrible call. I do hope that Johnstone is feeling okay and will recover quickly. Bad things sometimes happen in a game like hockey, it doesn't mean they are penalties.

Especially on the part about the official needing to see the penalty instead of applying a presumption when there is possible injury. Frozen4sioux
Wussified Collegiate Hockey Association..... The game is changing in this league and this is EXACTLY an example of why DU and UND HAD to initiate the push and separation from such a league....the collective hockey experience of the clutch and grab and trap and slow game coupled with the dephysicality of the league will create an end game of overall decline of player development that would have ....and will for those remaining make recruitment and competitive ability decline rapidly....coupled that with the continued trainwreck that is the officiating in this league and you end up with less and less of a tear in your eye for the wcha as each of these remaining games is blundered away.
Wilbur
They review goals.....why don't the review possible five minute penalties? Its a pretty big call wouldn't you say? I went over to USCHO last night to do some stat checking, and visited the forum, and of course the Tech fans were outraged because UND took a run at one of their top forwards with a blatant elbow to the head.......I think their radio guy might not have seen a replay. sagard
.... is changing in this league and this is EXACTLY an example of why DU and UND HAD to initiate the push and separation from such a league... You honestly think with the same refs and a long time WCHA ref Adam your going to get different results? There are tons of good reasons to make a league of your own, I just don't see refs as one of them. Considering right from the start the most likely referee candidates were guys working in that geographic area. Funny night. All the home ice teams win, I suspect someone will be playing hockey Sunday.
Goon
I talked to Dave Starman after the first period and he thought it was a good clean hit as well. I think that was a very bad call.
sprig
Funny night. All the home ice teams win, I suspect someone will be playing hockey Sunday. Probably more than one, and, in the CCHA, only 1 home team wins, and that was 1-0 in OT (notre dame). Two of the current 1 seeds lose (Quinnipiac, Miami)
AZSIOUX
It all 6 home teams win and UW can just win Thursday I think the WCHA would have 6 of the 16 teams in the tourney. I couldn't care less if they do or not but would be impressive as a conference whole if so.

Frozen4sioux
Did anyone catch at the start of the Petan spazzout...he axe hand slashes knight first at the wrist with intent to injure and then after the second knight gives him a litle whack back and the kid went down like he'd been hit with a broadsword from William Wallace.... Intent to injure slashing Dive Instigation Fighting Throwing punches Punching an official Challenging a linesman.... Not a bad little spazzfest...supprised he didn't try to climb the glass and punch a kid in a wheelchair.

Mitch has been back for the last 19 games and he's played in 17 of them.....4g and 2a. Now I like Drake however he's played in 17 of the last 19 games and has 2 assists. During that time Drake has played primarily on the 1st or 2nd line. I'm not an expert but i would say those stats warrant Mitch playing over Drake. You say that tonight you're starting line would be panz Jim and General. That means Mattson would sit again tonight unless your keeping Panz as a forward. I can only guess that you will be disappointed in tonights line up because my guess is that the players you want in the lineup (Jim, Chyz, Drake and Panz) will not all be there. burd
Tech definitely lost it in the third after the Kristo goal, but I think it is unfair to say they were playing a dirty, clutching and grabbing game before that. They were getting a lot of shots on net and beating the Sioux to the puck much of the time. They played well until . . .
Wilbur
That Petan sequence should be shown to youth hockey players....what not to do. Its already been said, but my favorite part is when Knight retaliates, and he acts like he got shot....lays down, but through divine intervention is able regain his health and gets two sucker punches in on Kristo. And if that wasn't enough......the action towards the official? Yeah, it wasn't good last night, but it was a linesman escorting him off.....not one of the head guys. How does the WCHA let him play tonight?
yzerman19
Intentional physical intimidation of an official is a suspension in any league...even the federal league
