yzerman19 Posted August 24, 2012 Share Posted August 24, 2012 I think we can all agree: scoring 1: Knight with Kristo and someone scoring 2 (to start the year at least): Rowney with Parks and MacMIllan Scoring 3: Grimaldi with someone with enough skill to play with him and someone to protect him/them with a little experience Energy: The guys who earn ice in practice So, who is left and what do we know about them? O'Donnell- decent physically, solid offensively, scored some goals last year before getting hurt Rodwell- speedy, mucks it up, never done much offensively at the college level Pattyn- prototype Sioux energy line guy, put on 20 pounds in the gym this summer Gleason- can play forward or D, speedy, smart Gaarder- overachieving energy line guy Chyzyk- good offensive numbers in USHL (20 y/o) Caggiula- good offensive numbers in the OJHL (18 y/o)- fact he's coming in at 18 means he will play St Clair- early bloomer, sat out a year, modest numbers in USHL (20 y/o) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

First of all, that top line needs a big body for the front of the net. That was Nelson's role, so I believe someone with some frame will be there. Hak has stated that center is Grimaldi's natural position. I believe that he will start as the third line center to take some pressure off him in the center role. It will also allow them to bring him along slowly after the knee surgery. And, if he is fully ready to go, his line could dominate an opposing team's third line and provide more scoring in that role than he might add to the top line. I do think that Grimaldi will have a slower start than many people expect, simply because he is such an unusual talent his teammates will need to get used to him. In the very few games he played last year he showed an extraordinary ability to execute a pass when it was least expected and his linemates just were not ready.They will need to learn to have their sticks ready at all times because Rocco will get them the puck. Wilbur Posted August 27, 2012 Share Posted August 27, 2012 Regardless of what the lines are, its at least a little bit refreshing to know that UND SHOULD have enough healthy bodies to fill out a full roster with healthy scratches on game nights. The wild card in the whole line setup is Grimaldi. Whether the coaching staff thinks he'll be better suited playing in the middle or on the wall. I personally think they'll start him on a wing and maybe let him grow into a center role as the season progresses. I think the only thing we know for certain is that Knight and Kristo will be with each other, and Parks and McMillan. After that.....any guess is as good as mine.
